5 out of 5 stars The Sims Seasons   March 6, 2007

`Oh no not another Sims game' I say to myself as yet again my hand dives into my pocket to buy the latest add on. I dread to think how much I've spent over the last 5 or so years on the Sims.......Anyway! Is it worth buying?? Well of course if you're an avid Sims player then the answer is yes. Why I hear you cry? Mainly it adds a whole new `gaming experience' with the weather and new interactions which come hand in hand with this add on. Again, like other expansions, it brings the game closer to realism which every Sims player craves. Its also great fun to watch your Sims interact and peek out of the window and proceed to have a tantrum because its raining or when the kids jump for joy because it's a snow day and there's no school. The new careers are great (always wanted my Sim to become a lawyer or a teacher and now I can make that possible!) I haven't quiet got the hang of gardening yet, my plants keep getting sick and dying but at least the game is giving me some challenges. Got the hang of fishing! Although most of my Sims haven't quiet yet! (got a nice room displaying all the wonderful....umm...boots they've caught! Finally it's nice to have the new items to furnish your house, I love the country kitchen look and great new props for the seasons, ice skating, snowman building butterfly catching there are loads! But strangely enough, may favourite feature has to be the fact that at last you can put left over food back in the fridge to consume at a later date! Brilliant!

Bad points, well there aren't really any major ones. I suppose the only thing that annoys me is that you play one family until say the season is Winter then when you go to play another of your families in the same neighbourhood it will be the season you last played it in. If you see what I mean? the seasons don't match for the whole neighbour hood which I guess puts a dampener on the realism but hey that's a minor detail and the game is great and most definitely worth buying. 5 out of 5 stars Best Sims Ever !!! - well so far   June 8, 2007

Wow - I love sims - I've only known them for about a year - I have all the Sims 2 expansions and this is by far my favourite. It isn't just a case of get your sims through school, university, or life in general.

It adds the depth of life with the four seasons and their effect on my little sims. Sun stroke, frost bite, snow men, leaf piles, the trees bloom and sprout fruit, and as the season change so does my sims clothing and hair styles. My sims experience feels more real with the changing weather.

Learning the best time to undertake study and badge activities (autumn), chance love, etc, adds to my interest and interaction with the games.

Prior to this expansion pack I would leave my sims running while I boiled the kettle, put the dinner on or studied. And when I came back to it things seemed about the same, but with this one I don't want to leave it running while I'm away because it changes so quickly and I don't want to miss anything.

This is an outstanding addition to the series - hope the next is as good. One suggestion - a way of working out how far a sim is down the path to a badge would be good. Something similar to studying where you can see the level gauge fill up.

5 out of 5 stars a must have for the sims!!! brilliant!!!   March 19, 2007

i preordered this when i knew this was coming out and im so glad i did, i love it and havent stopped playing since!!!
now we have seasons!! so cool!!! sun, snow, rain, wind, leaves falling off trees, the noise of thunder that scares the hell out of me when my sound is on!!! lol. if you have a fire outside and it rains it gets rid of the fire so cool and useful!!! sims can change clothes to suit the weather- there are much more new clothes for the sims to choose from!!! the plants have little symbols when your mouse hovers over it so you know whether they need watering or if they are dying or healthy.
sims have a little themometer on their screen so we know how hot or cold they are, this makes it more fun, as when they are on the workout they get really hot and its good to get them a cold drink or go outside to cool down ie jump in the pool. also if they are too hot they may die of heat or too cold they will freeze to death.
you can also get them shelter to put over the sunloungers incase they get sunburnt, there are new objects such as a greenhouse, crops to grow, sprinklers, a pond where sims can fish for fish to cook or collect boots to put on the wall.
after sims have cooked food they can put leftovers in the fridge and have them later, there are new houses, hotchocolate maker, new furniture, walls etc, there are new jobs ie journalist, teacher, etc. there is so much with this expansion pack and so much fun it is definitely worth to buy it, you have to!!!! its great!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Weather   May 27, 2007

When the original game was designed many years ago, Maxis had to remove weather because of major glitches. Now, we have weather in an expansion pack.

And wow, what a difference it makes! This EP does not really add more gameplay, but enhances the origial experience by adding rain, hail, snow, thunder and lightning and clouds. There are also seasons. Wothin each season, the weather is based upon typical weather for that season, but don't be surprised if there's a difference! (I recently had a very light snow fall in early summer).

The effects used in the weather are magnificant to watch. The rain and snow in particular look extremely realistic. The lightening occasionally strikes trees causing fire, sims can get pneumonia, it is extremely realistic, detailed and complex.

In the depths of the expansion pack, there is also a heavy emphasis on gardening (including new badges!). You can take care of trees and root crops to frow your own produce, which has many benefits. There is also the possibility to go fishing! The outerwear was a magnificant addition also, where the sims change into anoraks and jackets when they leave the house on a cold day. If they don't, they freeze.

So, was it a worthwhile purchase? I certainly enjoy the additions and it definately enhances gameplay. This is a must-have for all Sims 2 players, and should be the first expansion pack you buy in my opinion because of the featured feature: weather.

5 out of 5 stars Sims Seasons - Well Good . . .   March 3, 2007

This game is an excellent addition to the Sims2 packs. My daugther thinks is fab as you get to ice skate, fish, grow your own plants and create plant families, grow your own veg, catch fish which you can cook them or mount on the wall as trophies. You can plan and plant your own orange/lemon groves and orchards and become totally self sufficient - a bit like the good life! Kids and grown ups alike will just love it.
