Best Title on PS3 yet August 29, 2007 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
I brought this after i had great fun with rainbow six and have never played a ghost recon since the first ever one on ps2. I played the demo which i thought was great but its nothing to playing the real game. The campaign is a decent length but won't keep you going for days but then again it is always more fun in online co-op or with your mates. The online multiplayer is one of the best i have ever played with a huge amount of weapons to choose from (50+) and a ranking system. What rainbow six was lacking in its online mode this has covered it. It also has new features added unlike the xbox version like more multiplayer and co-op maps. It also uses the six axis alot but im not one for the six axis and usually end up turning it off. Overall Graw 2 is a great game and what i think is the best game out there at the moment.
I have played this! August 15, 2007 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
The graphics are so impressive especially on a HD T.V however the gameplay is what really stands out, you really feel as though you are getting in on the action. There is a vast choice of weapons as you go along and a team to choose from (4 characters) which is a big improvement over the last game.
The game isn't just any old warfare game but you actually have to react to the environment due to flammable cans, weak walls which can be shot through etc. You can also drive vehicles with six-axis and you can control a camera from above to help you plan your way in. This game is very exciting and well worth the money, if you loved the last one, this is a must have for you.
I don't usually do 5 stars, but in this case.... March 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'll make an exception. First point I have to make because it ticks me off.... why do people compare this to call of duty? They are different games, period. I love COD4. It really is a masterpiece. But this is also brilliant fun both in solo and multiplayer modes.
OK. So on we go. I've read some harsh statements about the voice acting, and much as I'd like to stick up for the game, I can't. It's rubbish. But for me it's one of the only weak points of the game, and it certainly doesn't take any of the enjoyment away.
The graphics vary immensely. There are indeed some parts where you think that you're looking at a PS2 game. But these are coupled more often than not with beautiful crisp next-gen graphics. I think this is a beautiful game visually. The environments are very good and usually pretty large (if somewhat linear at times). But effects like fog, rain, smoke are really something to behold. Similarly the explosions from air raids and other attacks are top notch.
The gameplay itself is top drawer. There are enough solo missions to make you feel like a one man army, but there are also a whole bunch of missions where you need to work with your team of Ghosts. I like this idea. It keeps you on your toes, and keeps the game interesting.
Along with your team of ghosts, you also possess such gadgetry as an unmanned aerial drone that you can use to scout the terrain ahead and identify enemy placements. This adds to the tactical side and makes it so much more than a simple FPS game. You also have the 'mule'. A unmanned resupply vehicle that you can use to swap from say, a sniper rifle, to a close quarter heavy machine gun. Again this is brilliant as it forces you to work tactically. I'm sure you could probably do the missions without using these gadgets, but I seriously doubt it would be as much fun. People that complain about the shortness of the game are probably those that are a bit gung-ho and who enjoy the carnage more than anything else. But for those that realise that Ghosts are meant to be invisible, this is a cracking game.
The online play ups the adrenalin rush considerably, but I think most other reviewers have already said plenty on this aspect of the game. Suffice to say, that in multiplayer all rules go out the window...
best game ever August 27, 2007 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
this game is much better than i expected. i have not played the ghost recon series before but i have played other games by tom clancy such as splinter cell and rainbowsix this game far exceeded by expectation.
the controles are easy to get to grips with and there is so many different things that you can do, this game is truely one of the best games on the ps3
Im Not Usually An FPS Fan.... October 9, 2007 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
This game is awesome! Im not a fan of First Person Shooters but after someone suggested to play the demo, i was so impressed i bought it at the first chance i had. This is the first game about that I've seen that really feels like a PS3 game-so far they have the sense of PS2 games but just better graphics. Perhaps this is down to the cross-com idea, or maybe its the graphics and sound quality, or intelligent gameplay?
Its the intelligent gameplay i found the most attractive. Unlike rainbow 6 where you can easily spend half an hour setting up for a mission, you get dropped straight in. However, dont think this will leave you high and dry. You commonly have 2 gadgets to help you out, the UAV and the MULE. The UAV (as your eye in the sky) will help you identify enemy targets as way as routes to your objective, whilst the MULE is your transportable ammo store, allowing you to re-heal, re-fill your ammo or even change weapons to suit the hostile climate (sniper rifles, grenade launchers). in addition you also can control fellow soldiers-"GHOSTS" and have them take out targets, heal each other or even outflank the enemy. The use of cover...virtually anything that obstructs the line of travel between you and the enemy is brilliant. It gives you a chance to scout ahead with the UAV, re-stock with the mule, or direct others to take out specific targets or take cover. The break in gameplay this provides is a breath of fresh air as well as a helping hand in not getting shot dead!
Essentially, the point is that this isn't an all out shooter...nothing like "Black". This is an intelligent and often ingenius look at modern warfare. The variety of level design is impressive, as well as the locations. Objectives are wonderfully varied, the most fun so far being locating snipers (with the UAV), using the MULE to get a sniper rifle and then picking them off one by one across the expanse of the battelfield. More fun still is using remote explosives, and frag grenades as well as smoke granades to cover your movements.
Honestly i suggest you play the demo and then go and buy this game....Its the best one out on PS3 yet!!!
