Where have you been all my life. It does everything July 13, 2007 23 out of 26 found this review helpful
Logitech Harmony 1000 is a revelation. It is so easy, looks so good, well made and works with everything. It's a no brainer if you have a decent home cinema set up!
I had a Phillips Pronto in the past which was unbelievably hard and frustrating to set up (took 2 weeks). The bloody thing was a pain to use and never worked with SKY properly. I spent so much time looking at it pushing loads of buttons before I got it to do what I wanted. In the end the thing broke. What a waste of money.
The Harmony 1000 took me 25mins to set up. All my high end AV separate components where already in the Logitech database (they claim it's the largest in the industry by many times). It asks simple questions like "what volume do you use when watching TV" so you can chose to use the TV own speakers or your AV receiver for example. It works brilliantly with Sky+. No need to ever touch my old remotes. If you want to get into some advanced custom set-up's like setting delay times for the remote commands you can. I had no need to as it all worked spot on first time. I did add two custom buttons to turn my sub woofer on or off and from 2.0 to 5.1 on my AV Receiver. Easy to do.
I now have the perfect set up with one button touch to turn on my various equipment ie push "Watch TV" button switches on my plasma, AV Receiver, Sky and switches everything to the right cable and screen inputs. Marvellous. The Phillips was suppose to do this with macros but it just doesn't work right and causes more problems. It's so easy to use that my wife and visitors to my house (like my old mum) can use it without instruction. Before with the Phillips, I was the only one in my house who knew how to work it. Why has it taken so long for a univeral remote that actually works properly to come along? Hats of to IT company Logitech for pulling this off.
I can really recommend this product :-)
Really excellent product July 11, 2007 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I really can't quite get my head around the mixed reviews for this product - I thought it was excellent. A single button press to turn on my TV, Amp and Media Center, set the TV output, Amp Input, then select the My Video section. Brilliant.
The wizard is SO good - admittedly it doesn't necessarily get everything right immediately but it 'guesses' at the sequence of events required to operate each function after asking you a few simple questions. The on-remote help and the troubleshooter help you to get it working right, then all that's left to do is the fine tuning.
The remote remembers what state all the devices are in, so the previous review about switching things off when they should be on is only likely to happen if you're using your old remotes as well. Which, it's true, would confuse things. But you won't need them so it's irrelevant.
Really a great product and so much better than I expected.
Remote Locking up ! February 11, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It's seems weird that for some reviewers this remote locks up and requires battery removal, and for others it seems perfectly fine! This problem appears to be firmware related the cases that have worked probably have newer firmware. I have previously owned Harmony remotes and the "price/functionality" ratio is truly excellent. In fact a Harmony remote is the only Universal remote on the market that I have found to be of any use. I use a harmony remote on a daily basis, rather than just chucking it in a drawer and using the original remotes, as I have had to do on many occasions with previous so called Universal remotes. True the software/setup does require patience but the results are worth the effort. Sometimes days of tinkering are required to get the system "just right".
Great little bit of kit September 26, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Just bought one of these remotes as i was getting sick of having to many lying about the house. works exellently once set up but the interface could do with a bit of tweeking. still having a bit of trouble getting it to work with the virgin media box, but i think this will be fine one day.
similar items are avaliable but at a much higher price1000+ . all the forums moan about the installation software and it is not good. if you want a touch screen remote this is good but have a spare afternoon free to sort out all the stuff you want it to do.
highly recconmended for people with a bit of patience as you will finally get there

Having used 5 different remotes for the last 12 months I thought it was time to get into the 21st Century. A techie friend of mine recommended the Harmony 1000 to me and quite frankly I've never looked back. In fact, I can't believe I didn't get a Harmony sooner!
The set-up and connection was utterly effortless and very straightforward. Just a bit of question answering and input - all done very quickly. The one-touch control is really easy to use and the large colour screen makes functionality and navigation a breeze. Aside from that I also think that it looks visually impressive - a very cool piece of kit!
Touch wood I haven't had any issues with the control freezing but I did check this before buying and was told that this issue had been resolved with a recent software update. I was also reassured about my purchase recently after noticing HiFi had given it 5 stars.
