GTA4 - Game of the Year. April 29, 2008

I got GTA4 this morning (Amazon dropped it off at 7am!) and put bluntly, its the best game i've played in years. The special edition comes with some pretty cool stuff aswell, the art book is pretty interesting, the CDs great, the bag might come in handy one day, the lockbox thingy also might be handy and the keyrings really nice!!
Getting onto the game:
The graphics are really good, not the best, but definatly more than good enough. Its the level of detail that shocked me, everything from pedestrians being individual, to when you get into a car at night, an interior light comes on when the door is open.
The campaign will keep me busy for weeks, the storys really deep, and even once its all over, theres always online multiplayer!! Theres also up to a 4 player co-op mode, so you can get all your mates over too!
The new cars look great, all the characters have really deep storys and you feel like you can asociate with them. Niko's background reveals itself more and more as the game progresses, so I find myself constantly learning new bits about him!
And the best part... It's hilarious. Mostly little things like an internet cafe called TW@, to the ragdoll physics of when you "accidently" hit a pedestrian!
This gets a solid 10/10 from me, and I would definatly recommend it to any over 18 (its pretty gorey!!) Definatly the best title in the series (in my opinion).

Enough about the game its amazing and you know it if your looking at this deal.
The BAG - Its small, well made, stylish and has plenty of pockets, but it is small, and weak, you cant really use it for school/college but as a sports bag it could be useful.
The BOOK - The images are really interesting, you get concept art and then CGI transformations and such, it looks really good.
The CD - No big names, Prodigy help on 1 song. There quite good but not to my taste, more of a rnb, rap and eastern europe style.
The LOCKBOX - Sturdy, well built and is like the tardis, its bigger on the inside. It can store quite a few xbox games with ease, around 10. You get 2 keys which is a plus as i always loose things like that.
The KEYRING - I think its pewter, good casting although mine had some dips from flaking when it was made. Its quite a strong keyring aswell.
I bought this mainly for the bag and lockbox, the bag was too small for my needs and i think would break if i used it to put all my college folders and boots in. The lockbox is great though i have no quarrels there.
I'd Pay 20 for this which after the 40 game is what your spending.

This game is incredible - its really immersive so time flies - there's just so much you can do. Theres lots of little touches which make this game fantastic - the level of detail is really cool. If you liked other GTA titles this is a must buy. This is the best GTA yet. Possibly game of the year!

I don't doubt Rockstar but I think that I will either love this game or not buy anymore computer games. Lets be honest it's all getting a bit too formulaic isn't it?? Mario Universe, Sonic 99, Tekken 20, Vitua Fighter 17, Ridge racer 55, Devil May Cry 33 PES 40, Metal Gear Solid 34, Street Fighter 9, Halo 12, etc, etc.
I hope that this really does something quite different that san andreas didn't do and is most importantly fun to play. I think it will but I wonder if I really want to drive around shooting peoples families for imaginary rep and cash, AGAIN!!!!!
I also agree with the last reviewer that it's 29.99 (on @bay) for the standard edition and is this really worth the extra 30 quid??
No, but if you played san andreas(and GTA3 and Vice City) to 100% completion; you may want to have the extra merchandised stuff anyway even if it should come with every version for free, 'cause they made us wait so fricken long!!!

Having been a huge fan of gta for many years (from the very first one) iwas exited to hear that it was getting a next-gen console release. I have read also of reviews and if they are all correct than this will be one of those games that you kiss away any other part of your like (partners,kids,friend,etc) and lock yourself away. I hope that it does live up to the hype because i will be one of many people who will be annoyed
