Glorious - But don't pre-order at this price April 26, 2008 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
Amazing game, but: I bought this game AND controllers in Canada, at 179 dollars. You'd be paying 200 dollars for the guitar and drums alone. And then another 80-100 dollars for the game (or 40-50 pounds). That's such a rip. It's an amazing game, the best multiplayer game there is - and no one dies so every one plays! We play with two guys downstairs in a band! They have one too! Because it's cheaper here!!
Vote with your wallets, don't stand for that. There's an enormous mark up for you guys. It's worth the wait though. And now I must go and play Rock Band. Buy the new "Futurama - Benders Big Score" now.
ONE OF THE BEST GAMES EVER May 24, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Don't let the price put you off this is the most fun you can have in a box. This game is fantastic, it keeps you entertained for hours, the songs are the best on any game and, apart from a few aches and pains from prolonged playing, there are no downsides. Whether with your friends or alone you never get bored as you can just change what instrument you are playing. The instruments themseleves are well made, the drums espeially so - you can at least see there where some of your money has gone. If you enjoy Guitar Hero and Singstar and have thought about buying this game, and can afford it, buy it you won't regret it.
Rock Band Review May 24, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
First of all, i would like to point out that, the game is over prices over here in the U.K but there is nothing we can do about that. So indtead of saying the games no good and rating it 1* when people have not even played the game is not fair.
Luckly im not one of these people who sit there on the computer complaining about how there no going to get it, people read this area to find out if its good, not read how people say, im not getting it, its over prices compared to the U.S. At the end of the day, thats life, and there nothing we can do about it.
Anyway, i decided to get the band in the box, and i have not stoped smiling ever since the 23rd. All i can say is its Guitar Hero + Singstar + Drums = Awsomeness.
The drums are pretty much the best, they adjust to the size you want, height wise, and they have instant reply. Its hard at first but you can pick it up after a day or two, the foot pedal is another thing that hits you, on how realistic the whole thing feels. The guitar is soo much better than the Guitar Hero 3 and 2 controller, its is a lot light, and much easier to move your fingers on it. I have now been able to start hard mode thanks to the easyness of the movement on it. And then the singing is awsome, its just like singstar. On top of this, these are all availiable to play online, and also you can have a whole battle bnd with people over xbox live if some friends or family are playing locally with you.
The game itself is way better than Guitar Hero. The lay out of the keys are very sleek. And through the game there are nice little things here and there that really hit you. Like in some songs, there will be a guitar solo, and you have to use only the bottom set of buttons if you want, and dont strum to complete the solo, you also get bonus points off these. The is also a big finish, where at the end of some songs, you can either hit on drum or strum on the guitar as fast as you can to get added points, and then hit a few notes after about 10 seconds to seal the points. The soundtrack for the game is brilliant, lots of songs you will definatly know, unlike past GHs. Plus the downloads for the game are awsome, the songs on there from day one have been over 100 songs, about 5 times more than GH3 downloadable tracks from day one, with more coming every so often. But these songs are ones you will know again. With artist like Paramore, Oasis and All American Rejects.
These are only a few things that make Rock Band the game to have right now, and the Guitar Hero Killer. So ignore stupid people complaining about the price, and buy the game if you not tight, and also get the band in the box, it is well worth the money in my eyes for what you get.
Brilliant May 26, 2008 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
Well I pre-ordered the game a few weeks ago and it arrived Friday morning fantastic could not wait to get in from work! And when I came in set it up and started playing I was not dissapointed! Fantastic game great fun the drums are actually well made in my opinion and the microphone and singing in this game is really fun.
Overall a fanatstic game that I think is well worth the money for what you get. Go out buy it and enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS: For those of you who ordered the band in a box thinking the game was with it you really need to open your eyes and read ;)
Pricey, but fantastic ... April 28, 2008 3 out of 11 found this review helpful
Yes, it's going to be expensive, but for anyone who liked Guitar Hero, this game will have you rocking into the wee small hours.
I confess that I imported the PS3 version of the game from the US back in January, buying it from Amazon.com, and using a web-based company to do the importing for me. The shipping costs were high, but in the light of the high prices set for the UK version of the game, I still got a bargain.
The game is absolutely fantastic. My friends, family and I have had a ball since it arrived. We've had no issues with either the guitar controller or the drum pedal. The guitar controller is, in my humble opinion, better that the Guitar Hero controller - it feels like less of a toy. I would say that the gameplay (with the guitar) is probably slightly easier in Rock Band than it is in Guitar Hero. I'm no expert, but I've made more progress in Rock Band than I have in Guitar Hero.
I've been able to download new content from the US PS3 Store, paying the US prices, and have probably doubled the number of tracks over and above the original game content.
For all the folks out there who have unfulfilled dreams of being in band, get your friends round, share a few drinks, in moderation of course, and start rocking. It's about the best fun you can have with your clothes on!
