5 out of 5 stars This game is so much fun   August 7, 2008

I downloaded the demo a while back, not really sure what to expect, as this game has had some mixed previews from the media. All i can say is WOW!

I've played through it over 15 times now, this game is just bags of fun. You can select one of five classes to play as, each specializing in a different style of combat. You have a melee specialist, an air combat specialist, a ranged/gun specialist, the archetypal tank and the healer class.

It is an action RPG, more akin to say diablo than a God of War. It's a loot collectors dream, you can find and upgrade weapons, armour, craft runes and charms. Spec out skill trees, to further specialise in certain combat techniques, give armour bonuses, attack speed ect.

On top of all that the combat is viseral and deep. It seems slightly simplistic at first, a case of just pointing the right stick at an enemy to kill them. However once you learn the advanced combat moves and start linking combos together, there really isn't anything else like it.
It has a bit of a learning curve to master the advanced combat though, but once you do you will be slaughtering Goblins like a pinball God on speed.

This game is going to be one of the best of 2008 IMO, if you haven't already, download the demo and give it a try for youself.

I downloaded the demo of this over XBL and I must admit the first time I played it I wasn't sure about it.
But then once I got my head around the controls (they differ significantly from the standard setup most 3rd person games use), I really got into it!
I've played through th demo about a dozen times now using both the Berserker and the Champion using various weapon and Skill tree combinations, IT ROCKS!
IF you're after the standard 'run around and shoot things' kind of game then maybe this isn't for you, however, if you want a game with oodles of depth and an intersting story, (I can't say great as I haven't played through the whole game), they go for this, you won't be dissapointed.
As with most games, if in doubt play the demo and make up your own mind, everyone is different after all.
HAPPY GAMING!!
:-)

5 out of 5 stars Wow   September 3, 2008
This game is great. Its been a while coming but im not disappointed in the slightest. Gameplay is quality, graphics are crisp and the gameworld has been well thought of. im willing to give this game 5/5 but one thing which drives me crazy is the cutscene everytime you die, you HAVE to watch it and then respawn straight after. Near the end of the game you die quite alot!

Obviously I don't want to write a review before the game is out, as even the demo can't give you enough info to review a 40 hour game. However, I feel it necessary to say I had a completley different experience to the other reviewer. I found the combat system lots of fun, its a little tough to get used to at first because its so different, but once you've got the hang of it I found it very intuative, plus it does make you feel really god-like, as your character sort of slides towards whatever enemy your pointing at, so you kill one guy then swoop across the screen to another, flip him into the air, jump up then shoot him into the floor.
I would also have to disagree about the graphics, I thought they were very good, and though they were a bit framy at times, I would point out that betas are seperate entities to the finished game, and have to be built in isolation, and obviously the SK team wouldn't waste time polishing the FR on a demo. SK has a very good reputation, so I'd be surprised if they fell down on something as fundamental as frame rate.
None of this really indicates whether you should get the game, but I don't think I'm in a position to write a full review yet, I just wanted to counterbalance the other point made so that people who do not have access to live and the demo would not be scared away.

4 out of 5 stars Too Human XBox360 review   September 1, 2008

I bought this game on Saturday so haven't played it loads yet but I am about a third of the way through on the champion character. Overall the game is great. I bought it because I wanted something different to the first person shooters as I really still struggle with the controls coming from a PC FPS background.

Anyway, good points first: Graphics are excellent but the sound is simply stunning and it really makes for an immersive experience. The gameplay is also great overall. I liked the flowing gameplay and zero load times. Also liking the leveling and skills to choose from. I'm still leveling up but there are some amazing weapons to choose from especially the big mofo guns that you can sit back and level enemies form a distance before getting into the thick of it with the melee weapons.

Not so good points: I'm finding the cut scenes and movie sections a bit boring and there are loads of them. I've played about 5 hours so far and a good hour of that is either watching movies or running around HQ looking for people to talk with. The only other real let-down is the lack of different enemies to fighjt. So far, I can count on the fingers of one hand the different types I have tackled. It does get juiced up a bit as each enemy can carry different weapons and defences but still it is a bit lacking.

All in all, I am growing to realy like this game and even now, it does have that replay value that is really rare in games these days (just one more go). Buy this game if you like sci-fi stories and loads of loot collecting and also killing LOTS of bad guys. Seeing about 40 goblins running towards you from a mile off is an amazing site and that alone really shows off the power of the XBox360 to be able to animate from that distance away.

Nice one!!
