Skilled Action Non Stop ! June 14, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Bloody, violent, fast, gory...Ninja martial arts game at lighting speed.
Be Warned! Skill is required for this game. You can set the game to an easier setting but you will not get the rewards given with skill and timing set on normal & above level - and the satisfaction received for using the skill gained when played on normal/above level.
Graphics are good to very good to excellent...Though some backgrounds can be a bit bland there still decent for a next gen system. While the background graphics may not be the best for the 360 it does have great-cool particle effects: splashes of enemy blood, lighting, magic..etc!, all at a smooth 60fps. Amazing to watch with plenty of characters onscreen & effects being thrown around during fights eg: enemy body parts flying off, magic effects, fighting weapon particle effects, splatters of blood that remain on walls, ceiling and floor as do enemy limbs - it can be quiet amazing to watch the game in action.
If you want a game thats tense action all the way, that also requires skill - this will be for you!...But remember it's very bloody and gory!!!, so not for the faint hearted.
Much better then Devil May Cry 4.
Great game. but seriously hard June 7, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
i got this game on the release date and found myself just playing it for hours. its so fun and the choice of weapons and combos to use is massive. i played ninja gaiden on the xbox and loved it and also managed to complete it seeing as it was so damn hard. that said Ninja Gaiden 2 is in a next level difficulty wise theres are stages in the game where you just want to throw the controller at the screen specially at some of the boss battles. Overall this game is worth getting, DMC 4 doesn't even come close to Ninja gaiden 2
Harkening back to the beat 'em ups of old... June 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ninja Gaiden II has put a smile on my face more times than I can count this past week, why? Because it's made up of all the things that used to make scrolling beat `em ups great, and here are few of those things:
- Great variation of levels and locals; from the rain drenched streets of New York to Womb/Ribcage like structures filled knee deep with blood, to Ancient Ninja Clan Villages and steaming jungles. All the levels look stunning, and all feel different enough to make progression exciting rather than just another uninspired arena to kick some heads off in. Also the levels are very well set up and full of little secrets and points of interest.
- It's not ridiculously hard but challenging enough to make you want to perform some manoeuvres of your own at the TV.
- It's a good length with plenty of replay value through achievements and rankings and such like.
- The weapons are awesome to behold, in the way they look, level up and obliterate some enemy skull meat. Each has its own massive set of moves and cool and crunchy finishers for disposing of those pesky demons and ninjas. Also all the moves feel visceral and satisfying to perform and make you want to emmerse yourself in the hugely in-depth fighting system.
If I had to say anything was wrong with the game it's that the story is not worth a jot, but that is just a tiny discrepancy as most video games of this nature that do attempt a story line just end up filling it with typical contrived, anime, kitsch which quite I'd rather skip than have to put up with at all. So, all in all an absolute stormer that you'll definitely get more than your fair share of kicks out of (bad pun fully intended).
Oh.My.God... July 12, 2008 I'v just bought two games; Meass Effect and Ninja Gaiden 2. I am blown away by both, but Ninja Gaiden is just increadible. I am more shocked by the people that don't rate it high. Yes, this is a hard game. Battle through! One of my fave xbox games. Buy it now.
Brilliant but frustrating! July 18, 2008 I'll keep this review short and sweet! Good points: The combat system(endless variety of combos and moves) Stunning graphics The new recharging health bar Massive variety of weapons to slice n dice with Nice level locations Only for the hardcore gamer!
Bad points The camera view frustrating enemies in the latter levels Only for the hardcore gamer!
To sum the game up I'd say this Ninja Gaiden 2:As brilliant as it is tough
