Fanboy-mania April 5, 2007 27 out of 32 found this review helpful
One star Ricardo? And for something that isn't even out yet? Yes I know it's an old PC game and has also been on the XBOX 360 but if you follow that logic then surely the XBOX 360 version should get one star as well as it was already on the PC! It's quite funny if you read all of Ricardo's reviews as anything 360 gets 5 stars and anything PS3 gets 1 star. What a sad fanboy you are. I had a Wii and sold it and got a PS3. I've also played a 360 and I think they all have their good and bad points. Lots of other people would do well to realise this also. Why are you even bothering to negatively rate something you don't own? I'm offsetting your score by voting it 5 stars as I do intend to buy it and know it is a pretty good game.
p.s. I've just bought a can of coke while you have a can of pepsi. Coke is MUCH better than pepsi. 5 stars coke. 1 star pepsi.

i bought this game for the PC when it came out and quite sadly ive bought it for PS3 aswell. I am glad i did as while the graphics arnt as good as they should be they are a big big improvement on the ones on computers for people that dont have 600 to spend on a top of the range graphics card. I think this game is much much much more challenging then FOM and in some cases i think the graphics are better aswell. Deffo up there with the best FPS on PS3 atm!!!
FEAR March 26, 2007 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
Just a couple of points:
1. The reviewer below appears to be an XBox 360 Fanboy that has never played a PS3. Just check out his other reviews.
2. FEAR is actually a port from a PC game that game out a while ago. It is a fantastic game that will scare you silly regardless of platform. If you can hook your PS3 up to your HUGE HD TV then it will be awsome!
The PS3 is still a young console and developers will take a while to learn how to make the best use of it's hardware, in the meantime expect quick wins like ports from PC games and Xbox games. I Love my PS3 it's an all round media centre with Next Gen disc capabilities... what more could I ask for?!
Better than resistance! May 11, 2007 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I've played both these games from beginning to end. Resistance is a cool game but although FEAR is older and a PC game ported to the PS3, it ranks higher many areas: gameplay, atmosphere, AI, effects and story. The AI is excellent, far superior to the Chimeran aliens in resistance. Soldiers flank you in pairs, hide much more effectively and use grenades to flush you out of your hiding place. Furthermore the atmosphere is so much more infectious and realistic - You automatically tap into the radio chatter of the soldiers, giving you clues to their tactics and their numbers. This really adds to the feeling that you are not just playing against lines of code. The environments are genuinely creepy, and the tension is constantly racked up with excellent music and shadowy locations. The horror aspect really adds to the experience and it makes playing it genuinely unique. Resistance on the other hand plays like any FPS you've ever played before. The graphics in Resistance are superior, but FEAR trumps this by adding in genuinely amazing 'bullet-time' like slow-down ability, where bullet trails become visible and the screams of the soldiers slow down ('NOooooooooooooo!). This makes you feel like a super solider always depicted in Holywood movies, and becomes essential later on as the enemies become increasingly sophisticated. The rag-doll physics of the enemies are really cool too - shoot enemies with a shotgun below the waist and they are blown off their feet etc. All in all ignore those who say resistance is better, it is a league below FEAR in all areas. FEAR is a classic, resistance will be forgotten in six months.
Will it be as good? April 5, 2007 6 out of 13 found this review helpful
Ok, I love this game to pieces (hence the 5 stars), but the only thing that plays on my mind is that will it be as good on a console?. On the PC version, you need fast reactions (especially if your Slo-Mo runs out) when a firefight ensues and with a game pad, I just don't see how you would react in time or aim accurately, especially against the Heavy armours and cloaked enemies, unless they "dumb" down the AI's intelligence aswell.
Of course you'd still get the tense atmosphere of "what's around the next corner" or "did I just see that?", but in this game, you need accuracy, good timing and speed.
All I can say to you PS3 lovers is, be ready to use Slo-Mo alot and nades ftw.
If anyone can update the gameplay in the reviews just after the time of release, with info on how it handles, I would appreciate it.
