5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Quality.   October 19, 2007

I really didn't know what to expect when ordering this item other than the countless numbers of appraises when it comes to Hori quality sticks and I must say I'm very impressed.

Upon receiving my package the first thing I noticed was how well built the actual stick is when compared to lesser known brands.

I've always wanted an arcade stick but have been let down before by countless numbers of cheaply made imitations, Hori clearly know their stuff when it comes to near arcade perfection in terms of design and control.

This stick works like a dream and will only take the minimum of 5 minutes to get used to if you've mainly used a pad for fighting games (like me) it's very easy to get to grips with.

This stick is also perfect for a few games available for XBLA such as Gauntlet, Golden Axe, Fatal Fury, Alien Hominid, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, TMNT Arcade, Super Contra, Streets of Rage 2, etc the list goes on.

So far I've only tried this stick with the Virtua Fighter 5 Demo (it's not available in the UK at the moment) a few selected XBLA titles and the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection and it works like a dream.

On Street Fighter III Third Strike I was playing better than I ever was before I was really suprised how I was amazingly parrying most of my foes moves with ease, perfect.

With Virtua Fighter 5 it works just as you'd expect a stick specifically designed for a game would work... fantastic! I just can't wait to get my hands on the actual game now.

Such an amazing purchase, quite expensive but worth every single penny for fighting game enthusiasts or even XBLA users.

5 out of 5 stars Quality arcade stick by Hori   August 20, 2007

Hori is the daddy when it comes to arcade sticks for fighting games. This VF5 stick is exactly the same in design and build to that of the DOA4 stick which is quality.

I pre-ordered the very rare DOA4 stick from Lik-Sang and was not disappointed when it arrived. If your into your fighting games and remember playing them in the arcades then this is for you.

It may take you a few hours playing to adjust to the stick from a paddle but it's worth your time. The arcade stick sits nicely on your lap and is quite robust but not too heavy. The stick & buttons are very responsive and in a whole the arcade stick just feels & looks well made.

I've pre-ordered this to go with my DOA4 stick as Hori always do the biz.

Excellent arcade stick, on a par with the good old Dreamcast's official Arcade Stick, possibly better.

Also works on a Windows PC via USB, just plug and play. Ideal for MAME and other emulation as well as the various freeware PC shmups out there. I echo what has been said about the performance on the 360, brilliant for fighting games as well as the Live Arcade.

Worth every penny.

5 out of 5 stars Great Arcade Stick BY Hori Again!!!!!!!!   May 5, 2008

I have previously played on PS2 Hori Arcade Sticks which have been near arcade perfect. Hori Fighting Stick EX2 is as good as their other arcade sticks on other console platforms i.e PS2, Wii & PS3. I bought this mainly for Virtua Fighters 5. Its performance on this game is flawless, with large size buttons situated in ideal postions for your fingers & stick itself being extremely responsive!

This stick works like a dream, however if you are not use to using arcade sticks for fighting games, there is a learning curve.

I have also tried this stick with, Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, Dead or Alive 2 Ulimate, Dead or Alive 4 and , Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Emulation for MvsC2 on Xbox360 is terriable! We need a update Microsoft!). All of these games have worked great with the stick after adjusting in game button layouts.

I have also got this working on my Windows XP PC. There are some specific drivers you have to get to make it work! If your into arcade games you'll be able to search for this using any web search engine!

Hopefully this stick will be just as great for upcming games such as Soul Calibur 4, Street Fighter 2 HD (XboxLive Arcade) & Street Fighter 4!

4 out of 5 stars Good quality stick   July 14, 2008
I've bought this stick so I can enjoy Soul Calibur IV when it comes out and my first impressions are very favourable.

The stick is very good. It's solid with good movement in the stick itself which is microswitched. The buttons (which are convex-faced) are not microswitched but feel fine. The USB cable is about 285mm long and comes with the easy release end bit like other Microsoft wired controllers so if you pull the cord by accident, you shouldn't send your 360 flying.

Like the other reviewer mentioned, it is very reminiscent of the Dreamcast's excellent arcade stick. It's equally solid, just a tiny bit smaller, and has a metal base with rubber feet. Compared to my DC stick I would say that this one has a slightly looser feel in the stick movement which I prefer and like very much.

I managed to give the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection a go and was very impressed, although I had to re-map some buttons in the game itself to get the layout I like.

On the downside, this stick did not magically make me an expert (I know wishful thinking indeed) ;)

But it did make the game more playable and much more enjoyable than using the frankly iffy d-pad on the 360's otherwise excellent pad.

How this stick holds up to more extensive use I cannot say but my initial impressions are favourable.

Now I just have to wait for Soul Calibur IV.
