Some of the reviews for Off Road are not good, while I think it's good fun. You get to pick a car (a landrover or a ford) and you do time trials to earn points, which you can buy new cars or improve your garage. Then once you think your good enough, you can do a race, which if you come 1st, 2nd or 3rd in, you unlock a race to do time trials on. Also, you unlock cars, but they do get more and more expensive! I am a girl, and even though it's aimed for boys, it's great fun for anyone really! you can use a steering wheel, or your wii remote. I use the wii remote, as suprisingly, it's easier. I would buy this game if your into 4x4's or off roading!
Basic but fun August 19, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Very basic but solid racing game - plays like something from the era of Sega Rally - decent graphics, solid but basic racing handling, at budget price it's not a bad little game.
Just monster trucks with Ford and Landrovers August 16, 2008 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a disapointment. After the fun of the MX vs ATX I was really looking forward to this one, unfortunately it is just a constrained racetrack game with vehicles that are not really about racing.
The scenery looks lovely but you just cant drive into it. Collision damage is primitive and there is no cockpit view.
The 2 stars is purely for the scenery.
Cheap exploiting of the Land Rover brand.
Sorry
Really quite dull and clunky September 23, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
played this last night and have to agree with other reviewers, basic and not much fun - bought it for my 6 year old though and I'm sure he'll love it (will have to wait for birthday..) - but will be a bit of a chore for me to play it with him. Been playing Colin McRae 2.0 and that is miles ahead of Off Road in every respect (in spite of being 8 years old). In-game controls are very basic - steering works heavily but maybe just need to fine tune it, overall feels like an old fashioned game - and was hoping for car damage as in Colin McRae - but instead you just get some sparks if you collide and later black smoke. Also - many of the tracks seem to be locked?? So - I have to 'defeat the desert' before I can pick something else? Basic basic basic. This title will come down in price very soon.
Off the mark August 18, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This game bears no relation to actual off-roading. You drive a selection of poorly realised Fords and Land Rovers at breakneck speeds around poorly realised tracks. "Damage" is so basic as to be pointless. If you want a racing game, you might as well buy one with race cars. If you want an off-roading game, then you certainly won't find it here.
