5 out of 5 stars tactically better than cod4   March 31, 2008
6 out of 12 found this review helpful

having read some reviews on here about this which are hysterical .i would say this game is fantastic the graphics are superb and beat cod4 in many places the enemy ai is brilliant ,theyll creep up and flank you so you need to be on your guard at all times ,the implemented face mapping is astonishing and the best you will ever see ,by using the ps eye your face appears on your characture even your mouth moves ,online is where this excells me and three friends play terrorist hunt in what is the best tactical online shooter ive ever played yes it is better than cod4 ,mine and plenty others copy of cod4 is gathering dust now until more maps arrive ,unreal tournament isnt in the same league ,i advise you to purchase this immediately ignoring the above idiots reviews cos they aint either played it or simply dont know what there talking about .so go on join the 2million others who agree this simply is a must buy.

5 out of 5 stars Best game on ps3 so far...   March 26, 2008

This is a great game, the graphics are very good, which is what you would expect, the gameplay is great, like nothing ive played before, so much more interaction than just shoot reload, shoot reload etc etc... great maps, and you can blow through things like tables and even thin walls to shoot people etc, loads of tactics, but not a massive amount that you get confused! overall, a really fantastic game, buy it!

5 out of 5 stars Most exciting game I have played in a while   April 14, 2008
1 out of 2 found this review helpful

I remeber playing the first unreal single player story and being completly immersed, the atmosphere, music, sound, scripting, was excellent.

Vegas 2 has created this immersion and atmosphere again. I have always been a fan of Tom Clancy Games, but as many reviewing point out, they have many sticky points. Vegas 2 is the most polished and enjoyable Tom clancy thus far and by far the most exciting FPS game I have played in a while. And all respect to COD4 fans, it just isnt the same.

Certianly, the engine doesnt seem to have advanced beyond Vegas 1, do I mind? Not in the least. I dont play games for the engine, i play it for the enjoyment and thats what V2 offers.

From the first level, the action is smooth, perfectly paced, before you know it your facing dzoens of enemies almost out in open with bad angles. The music is well timed, and very good at builidng excitment and tension. The visuals smooth, the level design excellent. The story integration, using your "hud" has been smoothed out now, and feels natural, while in prior releases (V1, GRAW) it didnt feel very smooth. The level progression is well timed to the story inserts as well. Dont get me wrong, the story is medium to weak, as with most FPS, and in fact most modern games, but at least with V2 its integrated well and smooth flowing.

The action can be heart pumping, while at the same time you get a descent amount of "tactial" assaults using all the various options.

The addition of the more arcase style system of gaining "unlocks" by doing various skills is intersting, but so far I like it. It great to see to lob a incendary and +4 pop on screen, or mow down a suprise terrorist blind and get a message for that. I also find myself looking for oppurtunities to take out bad guys in a way which will unlock my next level. Normally I hate unlocking, buts in V2 its a side line and not integral so it works.

What about bad points? Well most of the Tom Clancy usuals have been worked out, but a few remain:
AIs are dumb at infiltration+ following. This problem has always existed and still does. If your team is following you and you cover toa wall, your team will pop out and alert the enemy your there, preventing surprise assaults. So you land up telling you team to hold back a lot. They often seemed confused about "stacking up" if you take one side of a door yourself. Also in the heat of larger battles, they will just stand there and not do much, even with prompting.

However on positive note, your team mates can actually aim in this one, while in many prior TC games, they are mostly useless.

Games are about enjoyment and since I really enjoyed this, it gets the 5 stars

5 out of 5 stars Better than the first   May 17, 2008
2 out of 5 found this review helpful

Bad points:
1. The map (a useful tool for locating enemies) has moved from L2 to Select so its difficult to keep your finger on it whilst doing other things
2. Much easier than the first so you dont feel like your achieving anything but then you can bump it up to the highest difficulty

Good points:
1. Everything that was good about the first one
2. You can edit your character, changing his/her face, clothes and fitting him/her with different types of armor
3. Experience points are needed to unlock weapons (a bigger selection this time), clothes and armor. XP points make you feel like your working for something and will make you replay again on harder difficulties
4. You can sprint in this one
5. Easier to see enemies so you can take out a whole room without being seen
6. Graphics have improved from the first game
