Product Description
Step onto the pitch and play professional football your way in EA Sports FIFA 09.

Manufacturer's Description
Step onto the pitch and play professional football your way in FIFA 09. Experience the most authentic football simulation EA Sports has delivered as you live the fantasy of playing as a professional player and customise the game to suit your style and ability.

Powered by the third generation of the EA Sports football engine, FIFA 09 features more than 250 core gameplay additions and enhancements that deliver the most responsive, intelligent and realistic action ever for the series. Enjoy turning defenders with more controlled dribbling and ball control, snapping off precision shots with improved first-time shooting mechanics and firing beautifully timed passes with greater accuracy, placing the ball exactly where you want it.

With new player momentum physics the speed and weight of the player determines everything from the distance of a slide tackle and the power of a header to the severity of player collisions and the height of a player's jump. Plus, players now behave according to their physical attributes with larger, stronger players dominating collisions, battles for control of the ball, and position in challenges for two player headers.

5 out of 5 stars Best Football Game For PSP   August 18, 2008
10 out of 13 found this review helpful

Once again Fifa has lived up to its expectations and proved it is one of the best games for the PSP. The graphics are much the same as fifa 08, although they are a little sharper which is great. The music tracks are once again updated to whats in the charts which gives this game a good advantage over many others. Fifa 09 has all the usuals from a football game, tournaments and leagues from all around the world. New teams and leagues have been added since the 08 version. A new feature is the 'Be A Pro' which proved to work well in other consoles lik the PS3 and XBOX 360. this feature allows the user to control one player and one only as they compete in competitons.
The online of this game is as great as ever, and there will always be opponents at the waiting. The loading time online is very fast, and has little lag, if you could even notice it ! Players can now organise matches in advance and play in an overall online league. Fifa 09 also continues to use the interactive leagues so users can play and score points for their clubs.
All in all i believe Fifa 09 is the best game produced for the PSP so far, and im looking forward for the public release.
(I tested this game 2 months in advance :p)

4 out of 5 stars Better than 08   October 6, 2008

To be honest, I found FIFA 08 to be somewhat disappointing. So when it came the time of year that the new one would be released, I wasn't sure whether or not ot bother. But im glad I did. The gameplay seems much improved, the graphics appear sharper and loading times seem shorter. So why not 5 stars? The music. I have to say that FIFA 07 had some good tunes, FIFA 08 was hit and miss, and FIFA 09, well. With the exception of a few tracks, I was not really impressed. Music aside though, this is a good game, in my opinion from the last few years, don't wait for PES 2009, buy this instead.

3 out of 5 stars Why not just call it FIFA 2008 B   October 8, 2008

Here's my opinion on what I don't and do like (and I stress it's only my opinion)

Don't likes:
The players feel like they need a few cans of red bull to get going.. Feels very sluggish.
The referee's whistle sounds like a budgie on helium! Don't see why they felt they had to change it? Would be nice to have the ref on the pitch instead of when a foul is committed.
The commentary's the same and as 2008 and you feel like throttling Andy Gray after a while.
You can't seem to jump for the ball with out giving away a foul.
The shop unlocks are a bit boring and there's only two stadiums to unlock.
The formation and tactic settings are the same as 08, I have to admit I prefer the way PES let you change you team before and during a game.
Manager mode is the exact same as 2008, same manager faces and everything! No new features added to it, which is a bit disappointing.

Do likes:
The one thing that has improved is the crossing.. You can actually score a header the odd time.
The graphics have improved a little.

To be honest I can't see many improvements over 2008. Which I suppose isn't a bad thing but they haven't added or made enough improvements for my liking.
Sure we've got the new 'Be a pro' feature, but after a while it becomes a bit boring and repetitive.

3 out of 5 stars Not bad, but waiting for PES2009   October 8, 2008

havent played fifa for ages cos preferred pro evo over the years, so was lookin forward to this instalment, and for a portable version, its very good, musics good, kits and how up to date is it is impressive, i can only knock the playability, especially when turnin whilst runing with the ball, seems easy to score, nothing new there then, and be a pro is good but for how long, cos its pretty easy if you play as a top team...
the thing i really didnt like is the button config combinations you choose from, as complicated it is, i use circle for shoot and l1 for change player and the rest as normal, it doesnt let me do this yet on pro evo allows you to choose each button for each skill, this needed to be recitifed from previous fifas and wasnt sadly, and after checkin out pes2009 on my mates ps3, i will be lookin forward to its release, cos i beleive once again, pro evo will beat fifa for the main thing, gameplay.

1 out of 5 stars Awful   October 8, 2008

I am a big fan of pro evolution but this year with the release of fifa bein nearly a month earlier i thought i would try it out. Big mistake. The graphics compare to a poor pc internet game. The gameplay is some of the worst i have ever played. The fatigue runs out to early and makes the game even worse. I really regret this purchase and think i have wasted my money !!!!!!
