5 out of 5 stars Ferrari Challenge- this is just so much fun!   November 3, 2008

When i saw this in the Argos catologue back in February i found it wasn't avalible for ps2 which made me disappointed. But then in July i found Ferrari Challenge in a magazine and there were the words PlayStation 2.
I couldn't believe it!

And then on my birthday (24 September) I opened Ferrari Challenge and i couldn't believe how great it was!

Let's start with the old F355 Challenge. There was only one car you could have and that was the F355. And the controls were not very good. And there was a time limit but there were 11 circuits and you didn't need to unlock anything. But it was OK. However I would only rate it 2 stars.

Then came OutRun. That was better but on the ps2 there were only 13 cars to choose from and 13 extra decorated cars. At least there were some machines like the dino 246 the 365 GTS/4 and fast ones like the testarossa, the F40 and the Enzo Ferrari. And there were over 30 circuits to drift on. But again, there was a time limit! The music was sometimes good, sometimes really bad. This got 3 and a half stars.

But what System 3 have created is a game come true!

Ferrari Challenge is a game from the future. The graphics are amazing. They show the reality of this game. And there are 50 (yes, 50!!!) cars to unlock and buy (but there are probably 25).

And what about the circuits! The Italian circuits Monza, Misano Mugello and Vallelunga are great fun. The European ones are even better! I just enjoyed racing at Silverstone, Spa, Hockenheim and Paul Ricard are even more fun than all the Italian circuits. And in the USA the six circuits are half and half. Three are good three are annoying.

But the game modes are great. You can play Tutorial and try and do what Tiff Neddell (your racing instructor) tells you to do around Fiorano, Ferrari's test track by driving an F430.

Or you can try and race on an unlocked track in whatever car you own in dry or wet weather.

Or race in Arcade. By having a go at four circuits you race in what car you would like to race in.

Or race in the Italian, European and North American Challenges and play just like in a Formula One season.

Or race in Trophy to unlock cars and circuits and earn credits and win Trophy Cards. This is where you can get the most cars from the 348 to the F430 GT2 or the 575 GTC or the F40 and the FXX OR the 250 GTO.

Or try to score a record and try to beat lap times in Time Trial.

And this game doesn't stop there. If you do really well in something you are given a Challenge Card about how well you've done. AND You can even play a card game and find out about 66 of the world's most impressive cars that Ferrari ever made!

I have rated it 5 stars but i didn't give it 10/10 because sometimes if you cut corners your speed slows down for some time and I don't like it.

All in all this game deserves 5 stars because System 3 have worked really hard on this.

I rate this 9/10 and I've got something for system 3.
When will they make their next exciting racing game?
I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm trying for 100 race wins. Imagine that.

If you've got 30 pounds in your pocket, go to your nearest game store and buy it. You'll be missing out on something special if you don't buy it.

Thanks for reading my review. I know it's long but it's worth it!
