Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars A lot better than the reviews would have you believe...   November 19, 2008
I could write a lengthy review but it's unnecessary.

There are a few disappointments with this game, but there are with many games. The graphics are one area that could use a polish, and the voice acting could use some work (for peter), but aside form that this game was a hell of a lot of fun to play through.
It's in all honesty, heads above every single other spider man game release.

In one line: It is the best Spider man game to date.

4 out of 5 stars A fun game   December 1, 2008
I really enjoyed this game. I think mainly cause I rented it from Lovefilm. It doesn't last that long and it's not hard. BUt it is easy fun. Buy this when it comes down price or borrow it.

2 out of 5 stars A warning...DO NOT BUY THIS! (dont even rent it)   November 6, 2008

I really wish I hadnt pre-ordered this and had instead waited for the reviews!!! What a HUGE disapointment. The game has its good points such as the combat which is this games main feature. You can easily string together several attacks to make impressive moves that you really will believe only Spider-Man can do. Switiching between the red and black suit gives you different moves to use and switching mid-combat can be really satisfying. This however is where the good points end...The story is really quite messy. Written by Brian Reed Im suprised to say that it makes no sense as instead of being in-keeping with current comic books it takes parts from bits of Spidey history (MJ, Venom being Eddie Brock) and mixes them up). Not a big deal but annoying maybe to comic fans. The story also suffers that like the Spider-Man 3 game you can choose between suits so this feels like nothing new to anyone who has played that. Also disapointing, are the guest stars. Black Cat and Electro may be good choices but characters like Black Widow, Luke Cage and Moon Knight (all ok but dont feel right here) would have been better replaced by perhaps the Green Goblin or other Spider-Man comic book characters not really seen in their comic form in a game before. I would have much preferred to fight a character with some history in Spider-Man like Norman Osborn rather than Vulture. A great oppurtunity lost. Finally the voice acting is terrible. Venom is awful and Spider-Man is actually quite high pitched and screechy (sorta like a 13 year old whose voice is breaking). Overall this is a pretty awful game. The choices you can make have no severe consequences apart from a different cutscene and the black choices feel so out of character you will always pick red. There are no random street crimes just chances to fight for objectives as exciting as "Defeat 500 symbiotes". When the game ends you cannot continue to explore the city but its not worth it as the game has a terrible map so forget about finding any NY landmarks unless you have a map of the city handy. There are no collectables or unlockables so there really is very little to do other than the main story which is boring after a while anyway as you just do the same thing over and over and over again. Finally this does not look like a PS3 game. Textures are bland and although the symbiote infested city should look eerie and creepy it looks poorly animated and messy. A huge disappointment as I hope you can see so please be warned...I just wish i had bought Far Cry 2 instead!!! If you are desperate for this game wait for it to come down in price (WAY down).
