5 out of 5 stars A small boy's dream come true!   January 29, 2007

Bought this as a stocking filler for my 4 year old son and it's by far the most popular present of the festive season, despite one of his other gifts being a proper trainset. As you may have gathered, this particular 4 year old boy is somewhat train obsessed. I would highly recommend MS Train Simulator for other train obsessed boys, regardless of age - his dad's quite keen too! There's a good range of activities, routes and locos to choose from, the graphics and sound are pretty good, particularly for the 6.99 price tag. One word of warning, if buying for a young child, unless they're a complete computer whiz, it's unlikely they'll be able to use this without a significant amount of adult help, but once you've got your loco up and running they can potentially sit back and enjoy the ride.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent simulation   November 17, 2007

This is still a better and more accuarate simulation than the newer Rail Simulator. The artwork is dated by current standards. However, the editors included allow you to tailor the routes and content to suit.

Plenty of quality add-ons. At this price is GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY and still the leading rail sim!

I have just purchased this simulation and am well pleased, as a retired railwayman of 32 years service it brings back a lot of memorys to me my favorite is the Selby Carlisle route all in all a perfect way to start on PC Simulations.

3 out of 5 stars hmmm....   November 1, 2008

ok, well, let me start off that MSTS has been great, but without these add-ons
(Which btw is the reason why this has survived so Microsoft gotta be grateful for that cus, without the add-ons, microsoft's MSTS is basicly nothing, sorry microsoft, and anyone who reads this review, but basicly without these amazing add-ons which are better than the single product by MSTS, Train Simulator(MS) it wouldnt survive, and heck, i remember seeing it's awful price when it first came out, it was a disgusting price!, and i have it and i dread to think how many people would have wasted their hard earned cash on something so little that never had real good and exciting features, and you know Microsoft always giving up on all their products, thats prolly why Vista was a BIG mistake, anyways, im not going to moan about that, im here to talk about MSTS!)

When the Add-ons Routes, train packs etc.. came in, it started to make MSTS look good, but lets beat around the bush, msts only looks good becos of these amazing add-ons... So, Microsoft owes it all to those dedicated and talented Add-on builders and developers alike... Here's my toast to those add-ons and their rightful owners..it isthem that made MSTS great, not Microsoft, so just remember that before you rubbish an add-on, sure all add-ons make a mistake, or have something wrong, but at the end of the day, they work hard to preduce something for us to enjoy..hell, i like the 3 expansions i got...and lots of people rubbish them... but everyone finds a problem, and all i do is just sit back and enjoy the ride...no matter how bad or good it is..i like it for what it is, but not what it's not... anyways, this my review..I want to thank you for taking the time to read this biased opinion and review...remember, MSTS sucks without it's bros and sisters(Which is the add-ons for it btw haha)
