I've just got the game this morning... December 5, 2008 25 out of 28 found this review helpful
My copy of Animal Crossing: LGTTC arrived promptly this morning (Thank you, Amazon!) and so far, I'm really impressed. Once you get round pointing and clicking instead of the DS-style touch screen, you're onto a winner.
Getting the bus into the city is great, as now all the characters you usually only see every now and then (Gracie, Redd, Shrunk, Lyle, Katrina...) are all waiting for you. Gracie has a boutique which charges extortionate prices, Shrunk stars in a rubbish theatre show and Katrina once again rips you off via her cryptic 'palm-readings'. There are also a bunch of characters you recognise as neighbours from the DS version floating around for you to chat to, such as Apollo, Poncho, etc.
You can also change your image with a 3,000 bell hairdo at Shampoodle or upload your Mii character on screen! I tried it before, and it looks really strange having your own face amongst all the animals! Alternatively, you can download your character from the DS version onto the screen, though you can only bring your furniture catalogue and name with you, not your house, bells, etc.
I have only been playing for an hour or two, but I thought I'd get my review in early for all those who are still unsure whether this version is worth buying. I'd certainly say that it is, and I'm sure it will be another massive hit for Nintendo.

My copy of Animal Crossing arrived Saturday morning, i was really excited to get this. Like most games and electronics i'm looking to get i spend alot of time online researching, watching youtube videos etc to find out if somethings worth getting & with A.C it was no exception.
From the beginning your thrown into your own town, able to do as you please. Choosing your house, paying a mortgage, finding objects tools and a thousand other things. I have to say i'm addicted to the game and that hardly ever happens. I play a game for a while and thats it. This game is something else.
For me I love the online feature! Opening your gates to let your friends in or going over to a friends. You can find objects, swap things, buy things and you could always get some fruit and bring them back to plant in your town.
I could go into huge detail about this game but seriously if your thinking of buying it... GET IT! It's one of the best games ive got for the wii.... actually it is the best :)
A fantastic game! December 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Animal Crossing: LGTTC is a life simulation game where you are the only human and you live in a life without worries. Now, before you start thinking that this is a clone of The Sims, this game is totally different. The Sims makes you focus on a life almost parallel to the real world, with all of those money and romance fears. Animal Crossing is like The Sims, but with all of the worrying parts stripped out and a more cartoonish feel. You start life as a man/woman who is moving to a new town and has to start life again. You begin the game by getting your new house and running some errands for Tom Nook to pay off some debt. Once you have finished his chores you can truly start living your life to the full, by making friends with the residents, catching bugs and fish, and exploring the brand new city area. There are also a few more innovative features in the game, like being able to transfer your character from Animal Crossing: Wild World onto the game, taking part in auctions with other players around the world, and hanging out with your mates (wherever they are in the worls) while chatting to them - literally, using the WiiSpeak microphone. Animal Crossing: LGTTC is such as good game that you will get ABSORBED into it. There are two downsides though. Firtsly, it's too similar to it's predecessors. If you've played Wild World or the original then you'll find that for the most part this game is identical (although I have played it's predecessors, and I still loved it). And secondly, it really is better when bought with WiiSpeak in the official bundle. Still a great game though!
Rating: 9/10 (add another mark if you are a newcomer to the series)
Another winner from Nintendo! December 6, 2008 5 out of 10 found this review helpful
I got this game promptly on the 5th (thanks amazon!) and I was not disappointed. I love going to the city and I think the controls have been well thought out. You do need substantial reading ability to play the game properly though. I am a great fan of the ds version! GO ANIMAL CROSSING!
Wii Speak? We wanna! October 15, 2008 19 out of 96 found this review helpful
"Here in Europe, the Wii Speak channel will be available from 5th December. For the moment, you'll be able to pick up your adapter when you buy a Wii Speak compatible game, such as the soon to be launched "Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City". "
So the Wii may soon have voice communication, perhaps even between different players. I wonder if we can look forward to upgrades for programs like Mario Kart so you can really insult the losers, rahter than those lame "I'll do better next time" comments
I suspect I'll buy animal crossing, if only for the Wii Speak. Hopefully it won't be as disappointing as Wii Ski (aka Family Ski in Europe) and its lame implementation of the balance board. (Lame is appropriate for something that doesn't ski as well as Wii Fit)
