5 out of 5 stars Nice pad!   June 14, 2007

Excellent little pad, the driving wheel works spot on and I was impressed by the quality of this product. If you have a PC and a PS2 like me you can't really go wrong for this price.

5 out of 5 stars Dreams come true!   December 16, 2007
[this is a PC user review, 1 week of use]

If you are looking for a perfect PC controller for driving simulators (I mean simulators) And other games where analog controls are useful, like (flying aircraft in GTA) you have 2 options:
1- spend huge amounts of money and get your room stuffed full of more realistic but not a bit more functional steering wheel, joystick and an average gamepad, or
2- buy this Thrustmaster innovative tool for a price of a regular gamepad alone!
I use it primary to drive cars in Test Drive Unlimited in max realism mode with analog clutch controls and maybe it is not as cool as having the best Logitech steering wheel but in fact it gives you almost the same level of control :)

The list of reasons you Should buy it:
1- the new precision optical controller does what it says. In total all 7 analog controls on PC will take some time to get used to, but eventually give you the perfect control over any game. I will never buy a gamepad without such wheel anymore.
2- it is cheap! cheap, effective and made buy a well known company - what can be better?
3- it is compact and can truly replace your steering wheel and joystick! I am moving around with my laptop, and I do not have space oven for a joystick to take with me on a plane, but this one just gets in my backpack and I'm off :) as well it takes next to no space in your room and no time to set it up unlike steering wheels. (Plus you can easily hide it from yourself or your wife/girlfriend so you are not distracted when you need to work).
4- works with all PlayStations if you need it.

Well it has some flaws too, so if you are a long time gamepad user you may be disappointed with some changes and limitations, like the placement of R2 and L2 buttons underneath the gamepad; not good enough R1 and L1 buttons for continuous use (I find them unresponsive, so I wouldn't map crucial functions on them) and very stiff analog stick buttons. Another thing - vibration function does not work on PC, at least for me (It isn't really useful so I don't care, but there are other gamepads with vibration on PC's if you can't live without it...). You may need a custom mapping of controls for a great experience, but in my real life test optical wheel proved it self to be the most important feature and everything else is fine too, so I can definitely say that this is the best gamepad you can find for driving simulators. The only option to consider in the fall of 2007 is its wireless brother which looks cooler, is more expensive and depends on batteries as usual, so game on!

PS- if some guy with a steering wheel says that 7axis are useless, show him your analog view control on one of the analog sticks you can map in addition to all basic analog controls ;) None of the current PC steering wheels can offer such control, and it's really cool :)

1 out of 5 stars Broke in less than 30 minutes!   December 16, 2007

It is beyond me how a product like this could even reach the market.

Within 30 minutes of gameplay, both the centre joystick controls had come off - leaving the wire clamps they connect to loose. Every time we put the rubber joysticks back on the clamps again, they'de quickly come off again during gameplay. Absolutely useless!
