Product Description With the Pro Evolution Soccer series renowned for its fluid, realistic gameplay, the new game builds on the implementation of Teamvision with additional key advances. As with previous releases since its inception in 1996, the ball is again treated as a separate entity, with the timing of shots entirely down to the player, while the new AI ensures that defenders work to close down space and block efforts on goal. Similarly, distribution of passes works along the same lines, with players using the space available to them to switch the ball. Close control has also been enhanced with more control when dribbling the ball, and a number of subtle moves added to bypass defenders and move the ball into space.

The Return of the King December 21, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Ok, it's time to set all the customers that read these reviews straight. Just to make it clear, this information goes for the Playstation 3 verison and NOT the Playstation 2.
When the game was released it had several flaws, and it was like searching for a diamond in the mud. However, that has all changed recently. If you buy the game now, and you are connected to the internet via your PS3, you are in store for a totally different expierence to one not so long ago. Update the Firmware, and there is even a game update which will automatically show when you start the game (if connected to the internet). Gameplay has been returned to its former glory, and you can enjoy the superb graphics and gameplay without any slowdowns or freezing. There is only one downside now, and that is the online feacture still remains dormant.
Comparing the game to Fifa 08, there are a few quick points that would sort it out:
- The advantage that Fifa has is offical kits - AND NOW SO DOES PRO EVO, OFFICAL KITS DOWNLOADABLE FROM THE INTERNET. EVEN COMPLETED GAME FILES. - Pro Evo has always had better gameplay, but the graphics are about even in these games. (Despite having some mistakes in both games - Ex. Michael Essien in Pro Evo, and some unrecognisable players in Fifa that I even can't recognise). - Pro Evo is basicly an all round better game, and Fifa tries to mimic it, but fail.
Finally, take no notice of reviews before the update as the are basis Fifa fans or are just invalid now the updates have come. Only thing to wait on now is the online feature. Good luck in choosing your game.
Awesome! Have been Re-Converted! December 16, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this game and can't stop playing it. There are an awful lot of reviews slating this game but for me it is excellent. Once you update the software and you are viewing via an HDMI cable on a HDTV as I am, then all the frame rate issues disappear. I think this is the only reason people have been giving it bad reviews. But when sorted it is a truly awesome game. I used to love PES but was swayed back to FIFA in recent years but this game has made me come back again. I like FIFA for all the glitz and glamour but it cant quite compete with the sheer fun of PES and playing online is better with PES as you always have somebody to play as opposed to FIFA where I found it very frustrating trying to get opponents! Highly Recommend if you have an HDTV that is!!
wats the point?? May 31, 2007 20 out of 34 found this review helpful
why give a review of a game thats not yet been released, especially one thats written by a biased FIFA fan.... i also expect most PS3 owners that buy football games to buy both anyway, its stupid to give this game a black mark by giving this just one star, as this is unfair and utter horror to the developers, its about time amazon stopped unfair reviews and i hope they delete the one below!!
pro evo 2008 the best game alive !!!!! October 3, 2007 12 out of 23 found this review helpful
i've been one of the very few fortunate enough to play this game. Lets get one thing straight. FIFA and Pro are different games for different gamers. FIFA is the glamour of the game and Pro is everything that football fans look for in football. The licence's are slowly updating but us pro fans know what we look for in this game. Its all about the players movement, the reaction of players and the movement of the ball however, the graphics on the ps3 are getting more life-like and this does make a difference. There is a new stadia builder and there is on this version updates of new stadiums if thats what you want again you can edit and update teams, players and stadiums to your desire. Teamvision is the way forward for this game, the players act quicker to situations and are more intelligent in the play. Pro in the past has been criticised for not putting effort into the next series and again that can be argued but how do you improve the almost perfect game and when it becomes perfect there is no room for improvement. You know the score get the lads round, get the beers in and get the games going. If you want skill, intelligent players, attributes and a different pass sequence in every move then this is for you. FIFA fans stick to the real names, stadiums, sound and graphics but only if you want the ball to stick to your feet and score and beat almost every team without any effort. THE KING IS BACK. LONG LIVE THE KING.
Pro Evolution Soccer-The best sports game ever on any console? September 10, 2007 22 out of 47 found this review helpful
The first football game I ever bought was World Cup 1998 and at the time it was probably the best version of football on any console. However, after a friend introduced me to pro evo I decided that the EA sports football games were supremely inferior to those made by Konami. My first pro evolution acquisition was pro evo 2 and at the time it was a quality game. it may not have had the licenses or official kits that Fifa had but the gameplay was much better and much more realistic. The step up from 2 to 3 was vast and highlighted the various weaknesses in the previous game. The gameplay was once again superior over Fifa's and pro evolution 3 was quickly replacing the place of Fifa in people's ps2 collections. Now the change from 3 to 4 I also found vast and at first I found 4 difficult to play. this, however, does not mean that it was a poor version of pro evo. it just meant that people needed more practice to get good at it. Despite being a very good game, pro evo 4 had several weaknesses but these were put right by pro evo 5. With few flaws, pro evo 5 was so much better than Fifa 2006 which had that ridiculous off the ball option which just made the game an absolute joke. Now although their isnt much difference between pro 5 and 6 the latter is by far and away the best sports game I have ever played. The gameplay is brilliant, the R2 accuracy shot makes scoring those impossible curlers a reality and the random selection option is an absolute classic. Meanwhile the current fifa game, fifa 2007 is dismal. the gameplay is poor, the players control over the ball is poor and why is it that when u commit a foul seemingly 35-45 yards from goal that the free kick is suddenly within shooting range. EA sports have had some nice ideas with the 'toggle the left analog stick to battle with the defender' and i do like their 'lounge' option but they just havent executed them in the correct way. Playing fifa is just such a chore and it is frustrating to know that there are people out there who would much rather have a game of Fifa than pro evo. i think why these people prefer fifa is because it is an easier game to play for beginners. I have found that a beginner who plays pro evo against an experienced opponent will rarely if not never get a result whereas a beginner who plays fifa against an experienced opponent will, much more often, be able to get a result. Maybe this is why many prefer Fifa because they cannot handle the far superior gameplay of pro evo. In my opinion pro evo 2008 does not have to be too different from pro evo 6 to be a good game. In fact i'm sure konami could stop making newer versions of pro evo and pro evo 6 would still be better than any fifa game ever made. In my opinion fifa need to copy pro evo to become a better game. They've already copied the R2 accuracy option and the little x that shows where the ball will land. There is no doubt in my mind that pro evo 2008 will be the best football game ever made and will continue to reign over fifa in every department.
