I recently bought the game, and I've played it for some time now and it is simply amazing! It is definitely a game to buy for any one!
The graphics are the weakest part of the game, although the cinema scenes contain good graphics, the actual graphics are a tad too bad.
The storyline is a strong part of the game, with you being the leader of the Saints etc. There are so many things to do which gives this game a flare of enjoyment.
The gameplay is also a strong part of the game; such things as activities to increase your respect to continue missions and customizing your own crib and car. Saints Row lets you make every detail of the game to your own preference.
So, if you're looking to buy a game, don't get anything else than Saints Row 2. It definitely will surpass GTA and other hit games.

First off this game is not as pretty as GTA or as realistic, the latter for me is a good thing. I loved GTA 4 and believe it to be one of the finest games of this generation of consoles however did anyone else think that it took itself maybe a little to seriously, games are meant to be fun after all...arnt they!
In order to re-address the fun balance is Saints Row 2
Crazy, mad, but most of all major fun do everything GTA wouldnt let you in this huge totally open (from the start) gaming sand pit.
Create your own player, customise your crib, cars and gang hide outs. Take part in some mad side missions such as toxic avenger as you build your gang empire.
This game is all about having a good laugh and the online co-op mode allows you and a friend to double the fun.
Highly recommended.

I have to say that this game really surprised me. I was one of those who looked at the graphics and thought mmm it's not as good as GTA4, it is just a rip off, it'll probably not be that good... but I urge anyone who has those thoughts to think again and pick this game up. It's BRILLIANT!
This game is always going to be compared to GTA because it's just so similar in structure but if GTA was an actual genre of gaming rather than a franchise then Saints Row 2 is like another version of that same genre. It does so many great things that GTA hasn't done yet and that is what surprised me the most.
Customization in this game is really what seperates the two games. Even though you're playing out a general story mode with the same character, you can make that character your own in so mnay ways and boy does it make a difference to how much you enjoy the game. If it's making your character a guy or a girl, selecting their gang taunts and which vehicles thye drive it's just so immersive and really makes you feel like you're a part of the game.
The gangs work so well in Saints Row 2. Play a few missions and earn the right to have some of your buddies come along with you to help you sort out some of the harder missions where you're being hammered by herds of other gangs. Your gang will follow you, jump in your car beside you, attack anyone who attacks you, they'll even steal another car to follow you if you don't have room for them in your two seater. And together you and your gang just look and feel great. I notice that gang system seems to run really smoothly and I've experienced hardly any issues.
The voice acting, missions, cutscenes, characters in this game are all top notch. They offer you a totally absorbing movie-like experience that brings you the action, suspense and comedy that makes these open world games so much fun to get stuck into.
Yes, the graphics aren't as good as GTA4 and some may say they aren't that impressive but what it may lack in polish and quality it certainly makes up for with it's many many fun and entertaining features that can keep you occupied for hours. I have had so much fun with this game. I highly reccomend it to people who love this sort of game, you will have a load of fun and find yourself never short of anything to do because this game offers so many things it is crazy.

After having to endure completing gta4 which turned out to be like painting by numbers.that mission done,next,easy,boring,next....i was hoping to get some of that good old gta magic back with saints row 2 and thank god,the magic is back!!
the best compliment i can give the game is that it's loads of fun with tonnes of crazy stuff to do in a massive varied city that feels alive with all sorts of madness going on,it's like san andreas on steroids!! thank you god!!!!
the missions are varied and fun,the way you have to earn gangster points to progress to the next mission is great as it makes you act like a lunatic.
after you spend ages creating your character and their voice which is a mini game in itself,you then bust your gang boss out of jail.after that i had the whole city to explore and spent 3 hours causing mayhem,what a laugh!! my friends came round and the ones that still have gta4 are trading it in!! what took them so long?
the list of things you can do are endless,pick up a computer monitor and smash it in that annoying secretary's face,throw that moron on their mobile phone into that oncoming bus,steal that plane and smack a wing off and attempt to fly it with the wing on fire and bail out at the last second.pimp your pad,pimp your ride,pimp your gangster.there are so many things you can do that you should have been able to do in a certain other game,use people as human shields during shoot outs,dual wield weapons,pick up stuff like posts,fire hydrants,chairs and use them as weapons,use knives,clubs,swords,throw people at people or through windows.the list goes on,the game just doesn't take itself too seriously although you can play it that way if you want to and still love it.i better mention the graphics and sound while i'm at it.well i love both.i prefer the graphics to gta4's there is more detail and little touches like the heat haze from exhaust pipes,the moving cloud formations and lightning strikes during storms.the huge variety of npc's also far exceeds gta4's any gta for that matter,i still see new ones all the time,everything from goths to punks to japanese style gangs with swords,fat hookers,dope fiends,a guy dressed as a hot dog was crossing the street for goodness sake!! it's mad.the sound effects are great and things that were added to gta like hearing the radio playing in a car when you get out are all here and there are tonnes of radio stations playing great music and filled with daft adverts to make you laugh.i recommend you set the difficulty to the hardest setting,it makes the cops and all the crooks and gangs much tougher and the game more satisfying.this time you have loads of things to spend your cash on,you can even have plastic surgery,also now you can recruit gang members and you take over other gangs turf just like you did in san andreas although this time there are a lot more gangs.you can tag walls also but it's more realistic here,you even shake the spray can in between,it all adds to the experience.
i could go on for ages but i dont want to spoil it,bottom line if you are getting jaded with overhyped games that get reviewed by people on the take then do yourself a favour and get this game and get some friends round and have a good laugh!!!! after all isnt that what games were invented for?

This is one hell of an addictive game. Firstly the map is huge, secondly, the amount of weapons are so new e.g. pepper spray and a tazzer gun. Thirdly, the missions have a great plot and are fairly simple to complete but never seems to get reptitive, also the side missions like playing as a Bouncer for a celebrity and killing Zombies, endless fun!!!
Also, there is a huge choice of vehicles from cars, to bikes, to boats, to helicopters, to planes and so on, I flying saucer also makes an appearance!!! Finally, the customisable character feature is the best, playing all the GTA's I have never been able to experience this (The godfather was great with this feature!!!) but you change their sex, colouring, weight, face etc, you can dress your character up with any type of clothing along with changing the colouring, tatoos are also available, diamond shops, garages, food shops, liqour stores and so much more.
Negative sides are that the driving is not very realistic compared to GTA 4 and vehicles suddenly dissapear but none of these cons can affect the amount of fun the game contains!!! You can also mug people, and use them as a human shield etc!!! A must buy!!!
