 Until Motorstorm 2's Tropical Thrills, This Is The Best Racer On PS3. March 15, 2008

The recently released trailer for Motorstorm 2 made me go back and play the original again. Its easy to forget how much of an impact this game has. Visually the game is incredibly detailed, but the actual racing feels realistic.
Career modes are shunned in favour of pure racing. These are unlocked after completing the previous event. This does create a few sticking points, escpecially around the Level 4 difficulty mark. Every race is a tense affair, where a slight mistake on the final lap could cost the race.
There are a limted amount of tracks, but they take a long time to master. Also the different vehicle classes open them up in completely new ways.
Various downloadable packs are available on the PlayStation store, increasing the game longevity, including vehicles and tracks. A time attack download is also available for free, with an ability to post your best times online.
Its obvious what needs improving in the sequel, particularly depth and variety. But for pure racing thrills, and an early glimpse of what the PS3 is capable of, Motorstorm is essential.

I cannot get over how much fun this game is to play.
I am 38, I have been playing games since the days of the spectrum, and this game has me smiling at work, just busting to get home to play it. I fact I have never felt like this since the days of Knight Lore and Lunar Jetman, and I don't get excited easily !
Grapically, out of this world, but the on line playing is beyond belief !
Cannot recommend it enough. I got my PS3 on Friday, bought 2 games, and 4 days later I still havent even touched the other game.
This is the dogs doo dahs !

Having not followed the ps3 launch titles much due to owning a 360,I stumbled across this being played on the Stuff magazine stand at the autosport show earlier this year. Now being a 360 owner I have always been damn proud to show off its capabilities with gears of war especially. But this,this I have to say totally gobsmacked me graphically,and the artificial intelligence of the computer opponents was absolute 1st class not only toward the human players but each other also.Total chaos at its utmost best,if you only get one game upon purchase of a PS3 (which going by its price will be most people!) then it must surely be this. Hands down!.

Forget the geeky reviews, if you want a game thats great fun, amazing to look at and will appeal to all the family, this is it, no doubt ! A real showcase for the PS3, well done Sony and Evolution i say ...

How can anyone say this has PS2 standard graphics? It's drivel like that which really gets up my backside!
For gods sake......Motorstorm has some of the best console graphics ever seen. To complain about them is sheer lunacy. There are moments in the game where if you were to pause, the resulting screenshot is not a whole world away from what it'd look like if it was real life.
Watching the intro video, it's easy to be fooled at moments that you watching a recording, not computer graphics.
And this is on my standard def TV! Either the person below is incredibly stupid, or they need their eyes tested. Probably an Xbox Fanboy.
The gameplay is also fabulous, hurtling around a canyon at 100mph, churning up the mud on a variety of vehicles, spectacular crashes and amazing visuals.
Wicket stuff! Thoroughly reccomended and won't fail to entertain the kids. The major drawback for me in the lack of split-screen multiplayer.
