MK VS DCU November 21, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have just recieved my copy of MK Vs DCU and i find it to be a absolutely fun, pick up and play fighting game, however, the only problem with MK Vs DCU is that there are few unlockables and there is bare ammount of modes, on the other hand, the simplistic gameplay, extraordinary special moves, new free-fall/close kombat and the outrageous fatalities that each of the 20 Main Fighters have should keep you satisfied until MK 8. 9/10 In The Case Of MK Vs DCU, the highs definately overcome the lows and as there is going to be downloadable content such as Characters, Costumes, Arenas etc., this game may have alot of replay value afterall.
Great fun game; everything i wanted December 1, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Ignore the haters, this is a great game for anyone who enjoys a fun fighting game. the MK characters are great, and DC are even better IMO. Fatalities & Brutalities are excellent, the Jokers are just hilarious. Fast paced, Frantic action & Story mode really was alot of fun. Graphics are excellent, full 1080p, lovely job. If you can pick up the SE edition too, as the artwork booklet that come siwth it is great, and its not much more expensive.
Wow January 4, 2009 I DO NOT have one single bad thing to say about this game. I brought it earlier today and have pretty much not stopped playing it. All your Favourite characters from MK and DC put into one solid game with an entertaining storyline mode plus the multiplayer both online and at home with your friends will never get boring. Buy it now!
A good, if somewhat generic Beat em up November 19, 2008 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have played & owned every MK game to date, and am a massive fan of the characters from the DC Universe, so was thrilled to hear that a new beat em up was coming featuring both sets of characters. For the 1st time you can pit Batman against Sub-Zero or Superman against Raiden. Overall there are 22 characters in total from the 2 franchises to choose from. The presentation and graphics are good without being brilliant - an oh-so familiar problem with a lot of modern beat-em'ups. Most of the backgrounds are boring and look a bit sub standard as well. The sound effects are good, but some of the voices are very cheesy to say the least. The moves are a bit slow at times, although the ripping costumes, and brusing are good, and the supermoves are also impressive. However, they have clearly toned down the 'Fatalities' from previous MK games, and most MK fans (like me) will be be bitterly disappointed about this. The fact is that this game may not last you long. There just is not the much to see or do, and for me the novelty of the appeal wore off quite quickly, which is a crying shame, plus there is not a lot going on with online options, although I expect that to be different when it starts selling, which I am sure it will, no matter what I say. Overall then a 6 out of 10, and could have been so much better.
Close...but no cigar November 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
C'mon...who can't not get excited about the prospect of this game? It's the video game version of car crash TV - the coming together of such differing personalities and brand images that you can't help but sit back, enjoy the carnage, and have a lot of fun. Sub Zero versus Superman? Scorpion versus Batman? Raiden versus Joker?
So why then is it a massive disappointment when I actually got to play it?
Well the combat is solid, the story mode is substantial and if you are a fan of either universe there is something here to enjoy. Unfortunately the lackluster finishing moves and lack of extras really hurt the overall experience, but if you are indeed looking for a game that pits two franchises full of beloved characters there is a lot to love here. The game is not a failure by any means, but you will find yourself asking for more or wanting to play other more fleshed out fighting games. Casual players will race through the storyline before getting stumped by one or two Kombo Challenges, while Mortal Kombat fans will have trouble accepting the toned down Fatalities and somewhat slower gameplay.
I had a blast initially playing the game, and but it is an inferior fighting game, no matter how oddly compelling it is to see two sets of fictional characters clash in such improbable circumstances. In short, this game's fun, but there's nothing beyond the whole "Wow, Batman's fighting Superman" first impression.
