Although the game is yet to be released, i have been able to get my hands on one through certain means. I found the game excellent in some areas, and lacking in others.
The new submission system is excellent, it takes good tactical sense to make the moves most effective, and if performed at the wrong time or with the wrong pressure they are inaffective. The normal gameplay, the matches, is great. The lowest level of fighting is only really for beginners as it is more difficult to lose than win but the medium and higher levels provide a good time.
Also, the career mode has been improved hugely. On previous games, 2007 especially, the career was a set line of matches for every superstar with only one goal - the WWE or World Heavyweight Championships. This was not good. Now you can head in many directions with your superstar, this is perhaps the best mode on the game.
There is not much more to add to this of any interest, other than the fact that this a truly great game, and perhaps the best one on the PS3 at the moment (or will be the best once it comes out). A real top game which i would suggest you buy, if this is your kind of game.

would be introducing its SmackDown vs. RAW series of wrestling games to the Nintendo DS, Wii, and PlayStation 3 this year. Today the publisher spilled the first details on SmackDown vs. RAW 2008, which will also appear on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Xbox 360, combining for the company's largest cross-platform WWE release yet.
THQ also gave a glimpse of what to expect from this year's installment of the game, saying that WWE spin-off league Extreme Championship Wrestling will have a "significant" presence in the game, with a number of ECW stars, arenas, and weapons included. As for the gameplay focus, THQ said that "realism and strategy are at the forefront" with its new struggle submission system, which uses analog controls to let players dictate the amount of pressure applied to their opponents in submission holds.
SmackDown vs. RAW 2008 will also sport adjustments to features included in last year's game, with new rosters, more interactive "hotspots," a combined season and general manager mode, and revised action outside the ring and online community options.

Well i haven't played this yet, obviosly, but i am a huge wrestlig fan and i love all of the SDVR games awell.
This is gonna be without doubt the best sdvr in the series so far, and i can't wait for it to be release in november.
If your hyped for this game, give me a hell yeah !!

I have been waiting so long to play svr on ps3 i couldn't wait for last years one and i can't wait for this one. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay sounds as if it's going to be great and ECW are finally in it.

Let's face it, WWE Smackdown vs Raw is a tried and tested format. You get to play as your favourite wrestlers, get to create your own superstars and that's just about it. Sure they made it a little more interesting when they introduced the GM mode, but this soon lost its appeal. By the time I'd bought 2007, I was getting pretty fed up with it! But this latest offering is much better than its predessors.
For a start, it's been glammed up for PS3 and for WWE's first offering on the new console it's pretty impressive. The graphics are great with some fabulous lighting effects and special touches during the entrance sequences. Special detail has obviously been added to the major superstars such as Triple H, Undertaker and John Cena. But as far as graphics go, the movements are fluid and it does look quite realistic.
Gameplay is not that much different. The enfuriating stamina system rears its ugly head, but it can be disabled easily. You often find yourself getting very frustrated when controlling your character as it often appears as if they are trying to fight someone in the crowd instead of fight their opponent. Ultimate grapples and finishers can be performed much easier on this new game too.
You have several different modes to pick from. A much better career mode presents a much more in-depth and more realistic wrestler experience. However GM modes and the new tournament modes leave little to be desired. The introduction of ECW soon wears off, however the extreme rules matches are a little fun but become less interesting after a while.
Overall, this is a good offering from THQ and Jaks, but there's still room for improvement. Although it is a very good game if you're a wrestling fan, I wouldn't reccomend it to someone who isn't. It's not a PS3 essential, but it's a very good offering nonetheless and great fun for us wrestling fans.
