Star wars fans dont be dismayed this game is ok January 5, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is my first time at writing a review but its about quite a good game i brought this game by accident insted of the PS2 version but i later got a PSP, overall its a good game. There are a few things wrong with it though, the controls have 4 different modes defult, basic, advanced and retro on advanced and retro you can roll but on basic and defualt you cant this make using the controls difficult if youve got used to 1 set and want to be able to roll, also on the first game you have free acsses to wookies and jet troopers but on this one you dont you have to get points to get them why did the makers do that? , that aside though its a Amazing game the graphics are good and the missions were you can be a rouge assassin, impereal inforcer and rebel raider are really fun but the best thing is you get to be a jedi!! I hope i was of help to whoever reads this
wow this game is great!!!!!!!! November 1, 2006 12 out of 34 found this review helpful
i personally belive that this game is one of the best games ever created. This is due to its exceptional gameplay and graphics. I know absoluteley nothing about star wars so I really don't give a damn about bloody Darth Vader (or whatever its called). Maybe thats why its so good. Its really just a waste of time and money if you actually like star wars. Its just really good fun trying to kill all the mad aliens. I would pay up to 189 for this masterpiece. Its just amazing. No other word for it, just amazing.I've had this game for 2 months now and completed a whole two levels. If I were you I'd buy this game. If I was to say that this game was rubbish I'd be lying. Because its ABSOLUTELEY FANTASTIC. No other word for it just ABSOLUTELEY FANTASTIC. Buy now or be square.
COME ON CHARLTON!!!
great game December 15, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I really enjoyed this game because if you capture an area you get to become someone like Darth Vader or Luke. I think that even if you don't like Star Wars you should still buy this game because it is really good.
Dissapointing and very poor July 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ive only just bought a psp and after reading the reviews for this game on amazon, Most people put it in quite a positive light and make it seem like one of the better games available for the psp.
Now firstly I must admit the psp has got to have the worst collection of games for any handheld console, with only a few worth playing on an extended basis.
And I have tried to give battlefront a chance by playing it on an off for a few weeks now but it really is just not worth it.....WHY!! I hear you exclaim.....well.
Firstly the control setup that you start off with it is stupidly laid out, you really have no chance of playing it at all on the standard setup, but even when you select one of the three other control setups its still almost unplayable, but once you do get to grips with one control system you realise that the only way to shoot an opponent in by hitting them once and then waiting for the psp to lock on to them and keep them highlighted now this is ok when you've got one opponent but when you're in a big battle firing at the same person and not having a free it aim means you die pretty quickly. But the controll issue is topped by the fact that to move your character you use the analogue atick for forward and backwards and you have to use another two buttons to turn left and right, and then another 2 to side step...ARGH!!.
Sadly to say the controls arent the only issue, the graphics are very shoddy even for the psp, character models are very under detailed and backgrounds have barely any textures meaning you just wonder through blurry grey and green areas with hardly any discerning features.
Graphics and controlls aside the actual gameplay is pretty sound, depending on what mode you play it pretty much plays like capture the flag with teams conquering each outpost untill they controll the field. Battles are quite frenetic meaning you constantly run around and cant stay still too often because you will get fragged.
Thats pretty much where the good stuff ends, after a while the gameplay gets very samey and you quickly get bored. Now the space combat and ship to ship combat in space fights like most people have mentioned dont really affect the battle and arent even remotely exciting, this is mainly because space is nigh on empty with only 6 or 7 ships dogfighting.
All in all I was very dissapointed with the game as a whole, usually starwars games (recently i might add) are quite good but this one pretty much seems to have been put together with litle or no thought for the actual enjoyment factor it does serve to keep you occupied for a half hour at a time but its mainly because it takes that long just to complete one slow paced battle.
I wouldnt reccomend this for anyone who is looking for a god addition to their psp game collection...get crisis core or GTA instead theyre how it should be done when it comes to engaging and fun gameplay.
An unfinished game October 15, 2008 "They 've released a beta-version" was my thought after finishing some of the game modes. Sure, there's nice graphics and good music, there're exclusive challenges, but this is the core. Where's the rest? Where's the plot, the introduction, any reward for finishing the game? There isn't a single cinematic in this game, and the only thing you get for finishing it is one phrase: "you have defeated the [insert the name of enemy faction here]". Oh boy, that's so cool, isn't it?
There is no reason to play Battlefront 2 on PSP, at least no longer than for one or two hours. You can finish the PSP-exclusive challenges in 10 minutes each, as every single mode is easy and short. And when you finish it, you are brought back to the main screen, you can't save your score on each stage to come back later and try to beat it. And the very last and most frustrating thing - during a campaign, you will be forced to fight some space battles, which are totally boring and so easy that it's highly possible you won't see any enemy fighter in those 10 minutes you need to finish the stage.
The game - I mean the rules, the visuals, the controls - is OK, and being a Jedi is cool, but come on, you can't release just the core! It's like making a movie with great actors, score, fx and photography, but without any plot. Just showing pictures. It gets boring very quickly. If they released some patch, adding cinematics and plot, it'd be a great title for PSP. But as for now, it's shallow and empty.
