Another TOCA release of quality for PSP April 19, 2007 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
Once again, TOCA on the PSP is great! Okay so some of the tests (Braking) seem pointless as there aren't many occasions when you need to stop dead on a race course, but these should serve to place even TOCA beginners in good stead for 'completing' the challenge mode. The challenges themselves are as varied as TOCA fans would expect, and the variety of vehicles is once again impressive.
As close to realistic as you could make a racing sim for the PSP, and worth every bit of the money, time and effort that's there for your enjoyment.

A very good game. Worth every penny that I spent. I play on it quite often a never get bored. It is cool. The graphics are good for a PSP and the gameplay is realistic. I have a lot of fun on it. I recomend it for everyone. Buy Buy Buy!!!
YOU NEED THE CHEAT CODES!!! November 5, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Bought this on the off chance and I have to say I was a little disappointed. This was due to the fact there is very limited cars and tracks to choose from and most of all it's all driving tests. The more tests and races you win the more you unlock which is fine if you can be bothered with this sort of game. Personally I think it is a little tricky at times also with the damage function it leaves no room for error whilst you are racing. I got the cheat codes online which opens the whole game up to a new level, there are loads of top spec cars and tracks to choose from and you can turn the damage function to off. I know this is cheating but who cares each to there own with the cheat codes this game is brillant without it's a real test.
Where's the fun gone? February 29, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
TOCA 2 on the PSP was fantastic. Obviously the graphics were of slightly less quality than the PS2 version but apart from that the PSP was a direct port from the PS2 one.
TOCA 3 on the PS2 is one of the best driving games available on any platform and there is literally hours and hours of fun to be had. Maybe I should have taken more notice of the word "challenge" in the title of the PSPS version. I was expecting it to be another direct port but sadly it isn't.
Gone are the huge variety of different cars to complete events in and its place are just five championships at ever increasing difficulty levels. This would be OK but before you compete in any of them, there are a number of tests you have to do. They include following the racing line around a track, breaking in blue boxes (why?) amongst others. But, the most irritating one of all, is having to complete a race with no damage. It is so ridiculously hard because even the slightest nudge on another car will result in failure. I thought it would be easier to just let the other cars go and get round the track, finish last and progress. This is not possible though as you have to finish within a certain place. I have had to stop playing it for fear of throwing my PSP across the room and smashing it out of frustration. I love a challenge, and racing games are my favourite type, but this game is just so difficult that it doesn't feel like a challenge, more like something which is near impossible.
Codemasters games are generally very good. Their Colin McRae series is excellent and up to now TOCA games have been superb. Sadly this game is ridiculous and sucks all the fun out racing 20 other cars round a track which they nailed so perfectly in TOCA 2.
If you want a TOCA game please stick with the previous version. It may be only way to save your PSP!
