Product Description The easy way to play home brew games and applications on your unmodified PSP. Our special TOOL version of the PSP rechargeable battery works in exactly the same way as a standard Sony PSP battery, but has the ability to put your PSP into Service Mode. This is a facility made available exclusivey to programmers and developers, allowing them to run software from a memory stick instead of the UMD - a vital means of testing the game you're developing on the PSP without having to get Sony to cut a disc for you. With our bright red TOOL battery, you can access this Service Mode on your own, non-developers' PSP! Using the TOOL battery, you can run PSP software from your memory stick, by putting your PSP into Service Mode. It's easy!

Ignore the post below December 5, 2007 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
To give this 1 Star is frankly insulting and ignorant.
Yes you also need the magic memory stick to upgrade the PSP, but this battery tool does EXACTLY what Datel advertise it as doing - namely putting your PSP into Service Mode.
Buying this saves you having to mess around manually modding/soldering a standard battery (with no gurantee of success) to make it a Pandora one, and (if you are a Slim PSP user like me) it means you DO NOT need a Fat PSP to perform the upgrade.
Needs additional software December 14, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
The other reviewers are correct, additional software is needed to use this item to the full. I have uploaded an additional product image which is of the official Datel instructions. As you can see, they state that additional software is required but give no hints as to where to find it. Please feel free to contact me if you need any help finding the software to make your memory stick into a 'magic' memory stick to use with this item.
Does exactly as it says!!! January 19, 2008 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
Ok this is to help all the people having problems. This battery works with the fat and slim psp, to get the battery to work you will need a magic mem stick. A magic mem stick is a pro duo memory stick which has been formatted in a special way and has files necessary to boot in service mode. To make a magic mem stick you will need a real pro duo magic gate mem stick with 512mb-4gb space, over 4gb does not work and under 512mb may be too small. To confirm your stick is real on psp menu highlight mem stick press triangle and go to info if it says magic gate supported it is real, if it says unknown or similar it is fake, do not use a fake stick. Once established it is real you should google psp pandora memory stick or 3.71m33 memory stick and you should find instructions on how to make it. This combination will put custom firmware on any psp regardless of firmware.
Works fine. January 11, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This battery managed to upgrade my slim PSP to 3.71 M33-3 without the need for a phat bat. Apparently when the Magic mem stick is inserted, it bricks the slim immediately. This battery can solve that and allow it to upgrade. The software required is available on the internet in many places. Total newbie installer is what I used to create the stick. Have a go - it's cheaper than buying dodgy ones over the internet!!
Great!, Does what is says on the tin. January 19, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This battery does what it says on the tin. Perfect for saving time and hassle creating your own 'pandora's battery'. I initially looked at buying a spare battery to mod myself to a pandora's battery, but for the risk of screwing it up and the price of this. Get one.
If you thought you did not need a memory card alongside this battery to install custom firmware then you do not understand what this battery is for and should not be attempting to 'mod' your PSP.
With this battery I have installed 380-M33-4 on a Slim PSP and backed up all my UMD games to ISO. I can now play them off the memory card without worry of breaking my disc's, noise from the UMD drive and it also limits the UMD drive failing.
Simply Awesome 5/5.
