At last!!! October 26, 2006 45 out of 52 found this review helpful
I have been lucky enough to test one of these and I can assure of all you that our prayers have been answered!! This is obviously purely used for Xbox live so if you dont have it or dont want it then this product is not for you. However if you have already broken the original microsoft one - bought a replacment mic from GAME and realised the microphone doesnt stretch far enough around so you have to keep grabbing it and pulling it closer to your mouth then like me you were wondering why no decent microphone was available for what is the best service. It links to your console via the same route as a controller so its easy to set up - has a button in easy reach to mute/turn on/off and sits comfortably on your ear like any good bluetooth headset. In short if you play live - esp a FPS or 3rd person like GRAW, GOW, CoD 2/3 then buy it and use the other one for when friends are over. Lastly when you have had mates on your live account only player one can wear the headset unless they have their own sign in - with these all can!! bonus.
Wireless XBOX 360 Wonder... January 21, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was a bit skeptical after reading a few reviews of people that had bad experiences. All I can say is that there appears to be a problem with a few of these units, but the experience I've had with my headset has been completely trouble-free. I'm not ignoring the fact that a lot of people have had to send theirs in for repair etc, this is just my experience with the product..
The headset itself is pretty light, but well built and clearly made from quality materials. The first time I used it was the day after I bought it due to having to charger it before first time use. The unit charges via a USB cable that you can connect to the actual Xbox 360, which isn't as bad as it sounds. The Xbox doesn't have to be on for the headset to charge, it just has to be plugged in at the mains - which is brilliant for overnight charging.
The night after the initial charge was fantastic; the instructions on how to connect to the 360 were flawless. Turned my Xbox on, turned my controller on, turned my headset on and they all synced up perfectly. I've yet to try this with my pad being set as the 2nd Player but I assume it will be exactly the same. The Xbox Dashboard displays the headset's current battery status on the top left hand side, just like the battery status of the pad, which is very useful for keeping track of available wireless-time during long gaming sessions. The range of the wireless was very good, I found I was able to talk to my friend whilst I went upstairs and the quality was just as good as if I was stood next to the router, despite the 7 or 8 surfaces the signal had to travel through.
I had to change the ear clip that was attached as default (medium) to the spare clip that was provided (small) after first use as I found the unit hung off slightly. However, changing to the smaller clip was simple and now fits snuggly on my ear. It felt lighter than I expected, and I agree with everyone else who has mentioned this - the sound quality is definitely better, crisper sounding, and it is louder than the wired version. Also I found I could wear it for longer than the wired version, as well as not having to swap sides every 20minutes. The microphone part is adjustable, as in it can move up or down, and away or closer to your cheek.
The only negative (too harsh a word for this) aspect of the unit is that if you have used the wired version for a while, you get used to being able to flick the mute switch when talking with other people in the room - something the headset lacks. I myself wouldn't class this is a con of the product; it's just one of those things.
Overall I'm very happy with my purchase, worth every penny. Not only does it work as a in-game communications device, but if you have the Wireless Gaming Receiver for your computer it can be used for voice conversations over MSN and various other messaging programs. I've used it as a Skype substitute for talking to people online, it does the exact same job and you get a lot more for your money this way.
Actually pretty good January 26, 2007 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
i was abit worried about purchaseing this item as since i bought my xbox 360 about two months ago i never used a headset for xbox live and after all the bad reviews ive read in forums on the internet and some of the negative comments on here about various issues with headsets i thought can these headsets be this bad,but i decided to buy it anyway and see for myself and since doing so i have to say im not disapointed,ok there is an issue with the sound as you do get some interference when you hear people talk sometimes so its not what you would call crystal clear but i have to admit the sound quality is actually better that what i was exspecting,i can hear what people say with no problems and they can hear me so no problems there,as far as comfort goes,ok it may be a bit tricky for some people to get the thing on but i can with no problem and it does get abit uncomfortable after a while as i wear glasses but its defenatly not too uncomfortable that you can't wear it,the functions like power on and off, volume control and mute function are very easy to use,and even connecting the headset to my relevent controller was simple enough,as long as you read the manual and follow the instructions you should have no problem at all.
so would i actually reccomend this accessory for fellow xbox 360 live user?
the answer is yes and i would strongly recoment this item as i have found it to be worth the money i payed for,
p.s also keep in mind that these headset are not for the heavy handed, take care of it and treat it well and it will last a long time for you,
Range is not an issue! November 29, 2006 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Not sure what other reviewers have been doing but range is the same as wireless controllers. I can go all around the house with it no problem (I do not live in a shoe box).
The pick-up on the mic is superb! Charging is quick and easy! A must have for anyone with a 360.
awesome headset!!! January 7, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
im writing this so that no-one is put off buying this by the recent review. I recently purchased this at is is awesome, does not need charging every day, all you do is put it back on charge when you have done gaming, so it is ready for your next session. and it only flaps about if your are shaking your head like a rock star, other wise you dont realise you have it on, its not heavy at all. id recomend it for any serious gamer, do not let anyone put u off.
