good game but too slow June 21, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This game has great graphics, good controls and it is very fun at the first time you play it, so if you play it 2 hours a day, the first 10 minutes of the game will be fun but then it gets boring.
I am right handed but I can uderstand that it would be hard too play if you are a lefty, no lefties on the game- not sure why rafael nadal wasn't on the wii.
The game itself is very slow, and hard to get a grasp of the serve. Yes, it is too slow, there is not enough speed on the ball and the oppenents are very easy to beat- shame there is no online mode. I probably think there isn't enough speed on the ball as I'm not that good at the moment but I will get better and probably enjor the game a lot more then I do now!
If I was honest the gameplay on wii sports is better( the speed of the ball and controls) but it doesn't have real tennis players.
I would be great if nintendo made a real tennis game.
I am a real fan of tennis, I am though a little bit dissapointed but I'm glad I brought it. If you are a hardcore tennis fan like me buy it. 1/2 recommended to anyone. Fully recommended to those tennis fans!
Worth the buy! June 23, 2008 7 out of 11 found this review helpful
I was excited about Topspin 3 when it came out because there hadn't been a tennis game out yet on the wii apart from sports. I really like the graphics and the gameplay, however sometimes it doesn't respond to the way im swinging the remote. This can be a bit annoying at times but that's the only downside about it. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who loves tennis and just wants a quick game.
A more advanced version of wii sports? August 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wanted to buy a tennis game for my wii because i found the wii sports version a bit to easy and i wanted to have more control over what i do. People keep saying how disappointing it was but i completely disagree. I think that it has good graphics compared to other wii games and a good variety of shots. From drop shots to top spin lobs.
If like me you want a fun tennis game that lets call the shots rather than have the wii do it for you i highly recommend this game. It gets a lot better with practice.
Beware if you are left handed June 20, 2008 9 out of 13 found this review helpful
The game itself is brilliant. However, this game does not cater for left handed people like Wii Sports does (no option to change). I am left-handed and I have tried playing right handed which is very awkward (you would not play real tennis with your opposite hand!). Shame really because its great but I just can play it properly (i.e if I swing for a back-hand the game character swings a forehand and vice versa which makes it hard to put 'top spin' on your forehand) Buy it if you are right handed - dont if you are a lefty (and join me in begging Nintendo to release a 'full' tennis game like the one on Wii Sports!!!!!!!
Long awaited....but disappointing June 27, 2008 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I've enjoyed playing the Wii Sport tennis for over a year, and have long been looking forward to a more fully featured tennis game to be released. While the in game graphics in Top Spin are much better than on Wii Sports, the gameplay is a big let down. The players lumber slowly around the court, a shot can be made by moving the control backwards even if you don't bother swinging forward, the menus are annoying and every time I turned off the music it would come back on next time I loaded the game. Also, having the nunchuck attached to the controller is a bit restrictive when you're trying to pretend to be Roger Federer.
A week on, and I'm back on Wii Sports Tennis again and appreciating what a good game it is! I think what I would like to see now is a slightly more developed version from Nintendo.
