5 out of 5 stars very good, best football game on PS3   April 29, 2008

i have been waiting for about 2 months to get a football game for my ps3 and, by the sounds of things, fifa 08 and pes 2008 are no good at all. This is a massive step up from the FIFA im used to on PS2, which i was expecting. However, once being knocked out of the group stage after playing the entire qualifying campaign the insentive to pick the controller straight back up and try again is some what lacking, and, unfortunately, there's not much else to do on this game, im not good enough for the online because evryone plays it every living second and its not fun loosing 8-0 every time. This is the only negative i can find, it is a very, very good game and worth the money

5 out of 5 stars Best football game on the market   April 18, 2008

The new features and enhanced gameplay (such as player responsiveness) from FIFA 08 really make this a much better playing experience.Graphics are suberb on a HDTV and player faces look very convincing. Captain your counrty is fantastic and you can play as England and win Euro 2008 with them. Commentators can say your surname (if your surname is one of the 200+ surnames in the game). little things like this make it best football game currently available to next-gen consoles!

5 out of 5 stars The footballing game we've all been waiting for?   June 12, 2008
1st off, the one and only negative:- its euro 2008 rather than next seasons fifa 2009. if this is what fifa will be like, then bring it on. Ive waited years to be able to create yourself AND play as yourself in a football game, and it was good to see that euro 2008 expanded on fifa 2008's 'be a pro' by creating 'captain your country'. have only had the game a couple of days, but im hooked already, not only can you personally score the winner in the euro 2008 final, but when you do so, why not celebrate using the new interactive celebrations? do a peter crouch 'robot dance', a jurgen klinsmann dive, thank God by pointing to him, or why not just do the old fashioned alan shearer one hand in the air? missing england in euro 2008? then play this and you'll forget about ginger idiots with umbrellas!

4 out of 5 stars Euro 2008   April 30, 2008

I had mixed expectations about this game. Coming from the makers of FIFA, I was expecting good gameplay, good graphics and real kits and player names. However, given that EA didn't take too much care with Euro 2004 or World Cup 2006, I thought this may be the same.
Well, the gameplay is good, but more like Pro Evo than FIFA. But this isn't a bad thing, FIFA fans. You cannot score from 40 yards as easily as on FIFA, but you're encouraged to pass the ball and try to score. Long balls are more accurate, as are through balls. The gameplay takes a bit of getting used to, however.
As for the graphics, they are a little better than even FIFA 08. The players' faces are very lifelike, and the manager shots are interesting, yet could be better.
One downside is that some kits and player names are fake. For instance, Macedonia and Wales' kits are unreal, and Andorra have a player named 'Andorra'.
Again, it seems as if EA are more concerned about the FIFA series than this, but, all in all, it's a lot better than expected. A pleasant surprise.

4 out of 5 stars get it right please   April 21, 2008

first off this game has got slighty improved gameplay (being able to control the power of your passes and through balls) over fifa 2008 but you only get to choose from 52 national sides, so as a full price game its probably not worth the money.

secondly i'm getting sick to death with picking Wales to find that all the players names are wrong and they havent even bothered putting in the right kit(don't know if any other country has got the wrong kit and names). this is an officially licensed game so the least they could do is get it right.
