 Exploitative Reselling of Collector's Edition November 13, 2008

I am somewhat disgusted by the, frankly, unethical practice of purchasing up limited-edition items by resellers at reasonable prices to starve supply and then offering them for resale to the genuine consumer with a ridiculously over-inflated mark-up. No added value - just cynical profiteering. When Amazon offered these at 39.99, they were literally snapped up in hours by resellers. So swift was this that Amazon did not even bother to notify those who had requested email notification of availability.
I wonder whether Amazon deliberately turns a blind eye to this practice. My advice, boycott the resellers and put pressure on Blizzard to produce more of this product. I have chosen to buy the standard edition for now and may consider the collector's edition in future, but absolutely will not be buying it at these prices on principle...

If these were concert tickets it would surely be considered touting. Its nothing short of rampant profiteering and its nothing short of sickening that Amazon allow this practice on their site.

This is an awesome game and the collectors edition is great to have but do you people really need to buy it for 50 and sell it for 3 times the amount?
So many people will pay these prices because they want it to use it so why couldn't you people just buy it for the same reason? It's an amazing game and this expansion makes the original even better.
I know there's a "credit crunch" going on but you do know, doing that is actually making it worse? If you buy this game, buy it because you want it or are getting it for someone as a present. Stop depriving the people who can't afford the silly prices.
If you're buying to resell then you're just an idiot with no morals what so ever. Buy it to use it, not to resell it you morons.

I completely agree with Paul St Clair Terry. DON'T buy from these sellers. Amazon themselves sold this at a great price, and is now being abused on their own website!
Anyone in their right minds knows that this game does NOT cost this much, and I'm surprised that Amazon lets this happen. Obviously it'd be hard to track, but even some way of reporting it would make sense.
Try ASDA or somewhere like that if you want to buy it online - at 44.91 for the collector's edition, I believe.

Very bad form Amazon, I didn't get a chance to get this despite having signed up for notification. I'm actually very pleased now I bought the standard WoLK from Game now (which arrived on time - unlike the one from your Jersey warehouse was likely to.) Loss of sales and customer satisfaction - not smart. :(
