After the delayed released of this DVD set the wait is finally over!
This is the first time the complete series has been released in the UK on DVD. There are 24 episodes in all on 4 DVDs.

I remember watching this when I was young. It has a memorable theme tune. My favourite episode is The X-Men Adventure.
You get two booklets (one with each of DVD case) and the two cases are stored inside a slip case. They still have the Liberation Entertainment logo on the boxes and cases.

Contrary to an earlier review - THIS BOX SET HAS NOT BEEN DELETED AS IT IS AVAILABLE FROM A NUMBER OF SOURCES AND MINE IS BEING DELIVERED TODAY!
The complete 3 SERIES' of this fondly remembered series are here in there entirety! Still as fantastic as they were and despite it's other animated Spider-Man counterparts is definately joint first with the 1990's animated Spider-Man.
A major part of my childhood along with Star Fleet, Terrahawks, Dungeons and Dragons, Rentaghost and that original George Lucas "Science-Fantasy" trilogy - it stands the test of time!

This is great, whilst thought lost recently Liberation Ent UK office closed, this Amazing Box Set has been saved and now it can be yours.
Collecting all the episodes this complete box set boasts restored picture but sadly no extra's. This is a must for any comic book fan and a great present for Christmas. Don't delay buy today! at present Amazon is the only retailer to stock this.

This box-set contains all the episodes from the 1980s cartoon "Spiderman and His Amazing Friends". Like many others approaching middle-age, it was my Saturday morning favourite as a child. Watching it again really took me back to those times. I also couldn't get that catchy theme tune out of my head!
There are 24 episodes from all 3 seasons on 4 discs. Spiderman is aided by fellow super-heroes Ice-Man and Fire-Star. Most of the well-known villains (Green Goblin, Kingpin, Sandman, Mysterio, etc) feature throughout the series, and we even meet other good guys like Captain America, S.H.I.E.L.D. and the X-Men.
The animation looks a bit dated now especially when compared with the 1990s "Spiderman The Animated Series", which is yet to be fully released on DVD. However, Spiderman and His Amazing Friends was very enjoyable, least of all because things weren't made unnecessarily complicated as was done in the 1990s series with bizarre storylines involving Carnage, Madam Web and multiple Spidermen from different dimensions!
This series represents what Spiderman cartoons should be - simple to watch and fun. I recommend it highly.
 VERY disappointed American fan. January 9, 2009
I'm an American who grew up with Marvel Comics, and watched this series continuously over the years, since the very first time it aired on television in 1981. Today some of these episodes air on the Toon Disney channel, and are heavily edited. I have bought several incarnations of videos from this series, and have never been satisfied with any of them. From bootlegs to individual episode releases from "Best Video." So one day in 2008 when I happened to browse on a fansite for the show, I saw that this DVD set was going to be released, but only in the UK. Whoever had the rights to this show should never have gotten them. Why? Because they did not treat it the way it should be treated. For one thing, look at the cover art. I mean, come on... you don't need to create new art that looks like that, when there are several tools you can use to take actual artwork from the show itself and put it on the box. Anyway, the fansite also said that these episodes were supposedly "uncut." Except that the title cards that precede the episode titles are missing, much of Stan Lee's narration in several episodes is missing, and the number one reason why this set infuriated me... the transfer is from PAL. That means the frame-rate is sped up, and the audio suffers because it is too high-pitched, and it sounds like crap. So guess what, fans? THEY AIN'T UNCUT!
Let me say this... I HATE PAL TRANSFERS! And I can't for the life of me understand why people can't tell the difference from the pitch of sped-up audio, and the way it's supposed to sound.
I understand that Liberation, or whatever they're called, lost the rights to release this set, and there's a limited number available. Well, GOOD! Because they didn't deserve to get the rights to it in the first place, if they're not going to give it the proper treatment.
I pray that SOMEBODY... SOMEDAY... will take this show seriously and take the time to present it on DVD in the right way. Off my soapbox, I'm outta here...
