Don't believe the naysayers - this drama is a bit hard to swallow if you expect more of regular Spooks. This is a brave attempt at a slightly futuristic semiMadMax/Robocop dystopian type society recovering from nuclear devastation at the hands of terrorists in London. So yes the remnants of MI5 have had to recruit younger operatives but these are having to grow up fast - they are not wayward teens who happen to blag their way in. Code 9 is intelligent drama with strong characters and scripts but due to the sci-fi scenario may be difficult for narrowminded viewers to adapt to.
Roll on series 2!!!

Yes it's different from Spooks, but it's actually good fun on it's on terms. Certainly alot better than most TV drama's i've seen for a while.

OK, so the acting and the script can be a bit rubbish, the story can be unbelievable in places and it's not as great a spooks. But so what? It's a completely different programme and so it shouldn't be compared to spooks.
Episodes 1 and 2 disappointed me slightly. Although I have never watched Spooks before, all the hype made me think that this would be something good. However, episodes 3 and 4 made up for the first 2. Unfortunately in episode 4 we ended up going back to some of the wooden acting that we saw in the first 2 episodes. I can't say how episode 6 is, as it is yet to air, but I'm hoping we'll be in for something better than last week
Just give it a try and try to see beyond comparing it to the original spooks

Ok so this isn't the same as the well established main Spooks series but hey if you only watch 20 mins of it your not going to feel anything for the characters.
Code 9 is good fun its not as clever as spooks but the 6 episode plot line does stand up on its own.
The series bases itself around the years after a nuclear explosion at the Olympic games, brave for Kudos as I am sure many Londoners worry about it!
Each episode is different and hold your attention, a good use of the younger cast to give a different angle on the intelligence game.
Clever enough, more entertaining than most of what ITV has to offer, all round a change for Kudos that works.

I can understand why everyone had been putting Spooks: Code 9 down, but I think that it is rather a good series.
I started watching this because the trailers looked cool, and I think that if I had watched Spooks first I wouldn't like Code 9. But yes, while some of the acting isn't good and the plots can be a little predictable,i think it is an fun, adult spy series which delves into themes and morals not covered in Spooks (as far as I know). It is very bleak, which I normally don't like but here I think it works. Everyone who Fielf Office 9 are dealing with are desperate, ready to do whatever it takes to get what they want whether it be radiation drugs or guns or whatever.
I thought the final cliffhanger was really good, and will definatly keep me watching next series (if there is one). I think there is a very real chance of the bomb actually going off because I doubt the creators are afraid of killing two main characters and letting the team fail.
Yes, the stories are pretty predictable. Yes, the scripts and the acting could be better. Yes, it isn't on par with other British shows like Torchwood or the original Spooks, but it is still a pretty good spy series and despite the extremely bad reviews it has recieved I hope it at least gets a second series.
