Alot Better Than Ark Of Truth! July 27, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Wow wat can i say the plot sounded interesting,so thought id take a look.Definately well worth it,i reccomend this to all fans of stargate, but have to have at least a sense of the plot!
stargate comes of age September 6, 2008 this is one bloody good movie,i have watched the tv show from the beginning and this is as good as the original movie which started it all off. as a fan of the tv show i give this a 5 out of 5 but if you are not a fan of the tv show this disc is still well worth a 4 out of 5 so go out and buy it
Passable conclusion to a great TV series July 3, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
With the demise of all SG1's enemies, the writers have resorted to the old "alternate timeline caused by time travel" storyline. Ba'al's last clone is captured and about to be executed when he, laughing, tells SG1 and the assembled crowd that they're making a big mistake. At that, people start dissolving into thin air. Yes, his creator has killed their grand-dads, or the equivalent. Somehow, our heroes survive this holocaust and the storyline is how they try to restore the timeline back to "theirs".
Probably the last thrashings of a tired franchise, this storyline is unsurprising and predicable, but remains great fun. There's no real "wow" moments here, but, like any fairground rollercoaster, although you may know what is coming, you can still enjoy the feeling as the certainties within the Stargate universe are stripped away and you drop into the void.
I really liked the series, still follow Stargate: Atlantis and am generally a sucker for SF, so have no problems in recommending your purchasing this.
However, new viewers should NOT start here, since, unless you know the majority of the backstory, you will be lost immediately.
Proving that the Stargate franchise still has legs August 4, 2008 Right on the heals of Stargate: The Ark of Truth, Stargate Continuum sees the SG-1 team return for its second outing on the direct to DVD format. Unlike Ark of Truth, which wrapped up the story ark of seasons 9 and 10 of Stargate SG-1, Continuum is a self contained movie, that marks the return of fans favourite Richard Dean Anderson and Don S Davis in his final Stargate appearance. While SG-1 attends the execution of Ba'al, the last of the Goa'uld System Lords, Teal'c and Vala inexplicably disappear into thin air. Carter, Daniel and Mitchell race back to a world where history has been changed: the Stargate program has been erased from the timeline.
The difference between the series and Continuum is noticeable from the start, showing what the production team at Stargate can do with a little freedom of an increase running time and budget. Compared to the typical episode, Continuum has a much broader scope, involving great panning shots in the artic, a much deeper tone in the shooting style and great visual effects.
Like with any production there are some criticisms, including the limited screen time of Richard Dean Anderson and the use of some stock footage from SG-1. However is more than easy to over look these thanks an excellent musical score and great acting from the cast, indicating that they still enjoy playing these characters after 10 years.
All in all, Continuum is as enjoyable, as it is significant for the fans as a sign of things to comes, proving that the franchise still has legs and a long way to go.
Great Film, but.... August 25, 2008 Its a great film to watch in HD, however on the Blu-Ray version there is one scene in the f16 that isnt even in HD, and is very noticable and my "UK content code" is just an empty white box on a piece of paper... No printers where it was made??
But besides that its a great end to Ba'al's storyline
