Other improvements over the Sixaxis July 10, 2008 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
Here are some other improvements I have noticed over the old Sixaxis pad :
- The plastic case is not so shiny, and feels less slippery if greasy.
- The plastic case is stronger and doesn't creak.
- The L2 and R2 triggers seem slightly easier to press in and the plastic is more grippy, so your fingers don't slip off so much.
- Clicking the analog sticks in feels slightly easier.
Obviously it also rumbles, and don't worry about the extra weight, it's not much different to a Dual Shock 2.
Rumble me fingers July 9, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The new DualShock 3 controller is well worth the investment.
The contoller is slightly heavier than the sixaxis [which is still retained] because of the inclusion of rumble motors. The rumble itself is more subtle than the DualShock 2. Most games support the vibration including the PS 1+2 titles played on PS3. The effect on the battery life is hardly noticeable.
The new pad does improve the gaming experience and it is far more comfortable than the PS2 pad. Worth the money I say.
Brilliant!!!!!! PS3's Are Far Better With One of These!!!! July 1, 2008 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought 1 of these months ago gt it shipped from Canada i think only cost 35 around what it'll cost to buy over here anyway. The controllers are brilliant hardy heavier than the sixaxis and still have sixaxis and vibrations which also works on a lot of games that have already been released prior to the release of the controller and it really makes a better gaming experience and makes you feel like you're actually there my recommendation is buy 1, buy 2, buy 3 depends on how many you need lol and sell your old sixaxis controller or trade it into game or cex or hmv or somewhere or even sell it on amazon and make sure you don't miss out on the new and better gaming experience this controller gives you!!!! And now PS3's will ship with these in the boxes from July 2nd 2008 when the controllers go on sale in the UK!!!!!!
Something so simple adds so much July 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Sixaxis was a good little gimmick on the original controller but the addition of the vibration feature in the DualShock 3 is a much needed one.
You may think, "oh, the only difference is that the controller vibrates" which is true but it makes such a difference - the vibration is improved on the PS2's and feels a little more subtle in my opinion. Every bump and crash in a racing game can be felt, on shooting games it feels like you really are shooting etc.
I thought when using the Sixaxis controller that I wouldn't miss the vibration and most of the time I didn't but buy this product and you won't look back and you will be thinking, "why didn't I buy one earlier?" Something so simple really does add so much and the only other comparison with the Sixaxis is that the DualShock 3 is slightly heavier and the battery doesn't last as long. However, I believe the added weight is a positive and rids the 'cheap' feel of the Sixaxis. Regarding the battery, it will still last you between 3 - 5 hours.
Overall, a great product and a must-have for all PlayStation 3 owners - get one now!
Eagerly awaited, and worth it! July 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The DualShock 3 is a vast improvement on the Sixaxis. The buttons feel much better and the controller in general feels of higher quality.
It is great to have a controller with vibrate and although it is subtle, it does enhance the game. Highly Recommended.
