The Remote Charging Stand by 4Gamers is a very sturdy, modern and cost saving invention to add on to the Wii. It gives a home for the Wii Remotes and charges them at the same time.
The dock is attached to the Wii itself replacing the grey stand that the wii offers with a White identical one with blue lights around adding a very sophisticated look.
No extra power mains socket is required as the dock plugs in via USB cable to the back of the Wii.
Charging is simple by just inserting the remote into the dock space and a red LED light shows charging in process. The blue lights around the Wii itself and the remote dock spaces can be turned on or off when charging meaning the glow can be turned off if required.
The dock can charge both remotes at the same time however if you want to charge AA batteries in the space at the back of the machine, you cannot use the second Wii Remote Charging space. This means that charging options consist of:
1st Wii Remote Space + 2nd Wii Remote Space
OR
1st Wii Remote Space + AA Battery Charger at Rear of Dock
AAA Ni-Mh Rechargable batteries are required and an earlier post says 1800 mAh are best however these are hard to find. Having bought 1000 mAh AAA batteries, these are working perfectly with no issues.
In terms of charging wise:
The 700 mAh batteries take 2.4 hrs to charge with one remote or 4.5hrs with two remotes charging at the same time
The 800 mAh batteris take 2.7 hrs to charge with one remote or 5.1 hrs with two remotes charging at the same time
The 900 mAh batteris take 3.0 hrs to charge with one remote or 5.7 hrs with two remotes charging at the same time
The 1000 mAh batteris take 3.3 hrs to charge with one remote or 6.3 hrs with two remotes charging at the same time
Even though the higher the mAh the longer it takes to charge, the higher mAh batteries provide longer play time with the remote.
Overall this is a top product for the Wii and is definately worth 10 to save in all the battery costs. 5/5

As you may or may not know, this unit 'replaces' the official Nintendo Stand and provides a brand new all-in-one housing for your precious Wii. The other half of the housing contains 2 x Wii remote charging slots and a charging bay behind these that charges AA batteries. It also has a button that allows you to switch on/off the blue lighting that surrounds the Wii and the Wii remote slots.
The package also contains 2 x replacement Wii remote battery covers that house the AAA size of battery, yes AAA. So invest in some decent AAA NiMH rechargeables, minimum 1800 mAh and you'll be laughing.
I however, plodded on and bought some rechargeable AA batteries without knowing but folks.....every cloud has a silver lining. I now use the rear AA rechargeable battery bay to charge my AA batteries for my other audio visual remotes and its turned out just fine. After 2-3 months of use, its a real bonus for me and would be for anyone that has a sky remote for example.
Couple of other points.
It looks the business.....in an official Nintendo-type way, although there is a review here that says one of the Wii remote packs/bays stopped working which might indicate some build issues. But hey, treat anything with respect and it should be fine. I'm sure Amazon will adhere to their returns policies and replace, I've no complaints so far.
Its also very functional and easy to live with, slots in nicely to your set-up and makes great use of the USB port.
Lastly, the lights are out......the next Twilight Princess dungeon has eaten your evening away and its time for bed.
But, I always end up staring at the hypnotic blue aura for 2 or so minutes before I go. Its irresistible that blue.

Right - just thought I'd clarify the battery situation that the other reviews mention.
Obviously the Wii remotes take AA batteries when you get them. With this product you get the actual charging base unit PLUS two little plastic things which adapt the remotes to use AAA batteries and also mean that you can recharge them...
The base connects to the Wii with a USB cable, and has two holes for the remotes to fit in and another little battery area to put some AA rechargeable batteries in.
So you basically have two spaces for the remotes to be recharged with AAA batteries in, or you can use the AAs which you have charged and use the old battery lid thing which originally comes with the remotes.
You also don't have to take the wrist straps off which is handy! Also it has some nice blue LEDs around the Wii and the remotes which you can turn off if you need to.
Overall this is a great system, I've had it a few days and its really been great, no probs at all!

I purchased this back in the autumn, and have held off reviewing this as the feed back from others has been of a mixed response, so here goes.
The unit arrived on time as per all my purchases from good old Amazon, and well packaged. I had mixed feelings at first of giving this ago, as people reported that the controllers where / stopped working etc. This might be due to insisting that the consol is turned off to stand-by when not in use. However we have had this going for about 6 to 8 months without any issues, the batteries where easily installed they charged up through the USB socket at the rear of the Wii consol (but only when it is not in stand-by mode) which to be quiet honest is not an issue, as my kids and all their mates that come around have not had the batteries fail or be in a fully discharged state not enabling them to play on the consol. The unit matches the colour of the Wii consol and with the added benefit of allowing the hand units to be stored away neatly when not in use.
To sum it up over the last months of use we have not had any issues, it charges the hand sets with out any problems ensuring that they are fully operational for play time, batteries fitted without any problems, looks great and for the money you can't go wrong, five starts

Lets clear up a few things first....
You need to buy a pair of AAA NiMh per remote to use this charger. I'd recommend 1000 mAh, they are good enough for 6 hrs of playing a night, and they will take as a pair about 6 hrs to recharge so next night youre good to go.
If like me you have silicone skins on your 'motes then you'll have to peel them back to recharge. The hole you put your 'motes into is tight, which is good for keeping your motes in place. Likewise you'll need to unplug your nunchucks or anything else at the connection end. The wrist strap however can stay on as theres a small groove in the holders to allow for the strap.
Like I said the actual holes for the 'motes are a bit on the tight side which means they need a firm push to fully seat them, you'll know when you've got it right, as the charge lights will illuminate, and start flashing to tell you the 'motes are charging, as soon as the charge light goes steady, you're 'motes are fully charged.
Now for the good news. This looks like it should have a Nintendo badge on it, its that good a match for the wii, the plastics are exactly the same shade as the wii and the Blue lit surrounds for your wii, and 'motes compliment the blue lit disc slot on the wii very well.
The blue lighting can be turned off via a button at the back of the unit, meaning the lit parts become just clear plastic, and blends with the white plastics of the stand and wii very well. Lit or unlit, this unit has a stylish look to it.
The instructions are a bit short, but with one USB plug that goes in the back of your wii, its not rocket science to set up.
Your 'motes are converted to rechargeable batteries by simply changing the battery covers for the ones that come with the stand, and inserting a pair of AAA NiMh batteries, It must be noted that there is a warning not to use Ni-Cad's in the instruction sheet.
One thing you notice when you pick up the stand out of the box for the first time is that it has a bit of weight, which i found to be quite re-assuring as it will keep my wii safe in the stand. The stand also has a well made feel.
All in all this is a really good product, looks wise it compliments the wii perfectly, gives you a place to store your 'motes while you're not playing, and has the feel of of a really quality product.
