5 out of 5 stars BEST MOVIE GAME IVE PLAYED.....   May 26, 2007

I purchased this game being a fan of the films - assuming it would be an 'average-but fun game'. I was wrong. The graphics are by far the best I have seen on the PS3, and indeed XBOX 360 to date. The game play is great fun, and varied right from the start, with Jack Sparrow's character particularly amusing. Even the way he runs is hilarious!
No - apparently the actors did not lend their voices to the game - though the actors grafted in to replace them do such a good job that most of the time, it isn't even noticable. Its really refreshing to see a movie tie-in game of such fantastic quality - after the average attempts I have played recently on the PS3 (cough, cough, Spideman 3). Definately worth a few dabloon!

Wow i say to myself, i movie tie in thats fun and plays very well.... stunning graphics, incredibly real characters graphically and voice wise, they've also captured Mr Depp's (Jack's) mannerisms perfectly from his facial expressions to the way he walks..... the fighting in the game in also refreshing, for a time that is because theres so much of it (nearly the whole game) and can become repetitive and tedious at times... tho this personally hasent botherd me.....Playing this game will also totally ruin the third film if you havent seen it so Pllleeeaaassseee watch the film B4 playing this. i still do hold Oblivion as the best game on PS3 but this runs a close second 94%

4 out of 5 stars Refreshingly good.   May 25, 2007

I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by this game. Expecting just another cheap movie cash in, I was very pleased to find it much better. It looks incredible, especially at Port Royal. The sword fighting makes sense and the duelling "mini-game" is well thought out. Ok the voices are not that of the real actors which loses a mark but sound as near as possible. Jack is, well, Jack which is what you want, and every credit to the game makers to have a few levels in which are not sword fighting, allowing exploration of some of the key places in the film. Overall, surprisingly good. A good sign of what the next generation might have in store.

4 out of 5 stars Gorgeous but boring   June 7, 2007

I played through this game and completed it in two days....And my conclusions were, what a gorgeous looking game. It's a good well desgined game with a whole range of different places to fight and navigate through. I was impressed. However, I found that the sword fighting became repetitve very quickly. You can never upgrade your initial fighting moves.

To put it simply you have standard slash, punch and grab. All of which can involve throwing around and which can even lead on to a finishing move. The finishing moves get bigger as you complete the game, however when you are button mashing to fight numerous enemies, you can hardly be selective about what moves you use to dispatch your enemy anyway. Mainly though the combat becomes a samey routine. Enemy, attack, punch attack and he's dead. It's not a challenge at all, which is a shame becuase it is fun and has potential.

The levels are cool, search for different things, fight and do challenges to get from one place to the other. I liked that I thought it was cool. Also the duels were pretty special. Easy for any one to pick up and do, simply by using the left analog stick, it's fun. Especially against a mate.

So yeah, I thought the game was gorgeous, however it was boring and samey. All the same it's worth a play through, but not worth being kept in a playstation 3 keeps box!

3 out of 5 stars Good, Solid Game but could be better   June 5, 2007

this is one of the best PS3 games to date, both graphically and in game play. The game starts off at the beginning of the second film (Dead Man's Chest) and you play through to the end of the third (At Worlds End). This is one of the first games to output in 1080p, and the characters actually look like the actors.

The game is very linear, there is even a compass at the top of the screen to tell you the general direction to go. the game is not very challenging, and there does not seem to be a difficulty setting that you can change. I personally think that the best part of this game are the Duels (and there are plenty of them). they are done in a different style to the rest of the combat sequences, where you almost take turns to fight, and disappointingly, they are quite easy, you are given pre-warning of an attack and where it is coming from.

there is very little in game dialogue, and most of the enemy taunts are very basic, the same phrases appear again and again. however the cut-scenes are very well done and the scenery is very detailed.

the game is quite easy to get to the end of, however to obtain 100% is much harder, and involves a lot more searching and to perform special moves on many more enemy's.
