Look past the teething problems! November 27, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I, like many was furious when I tried to install my copy of FM2009 on release day only to be told first that my security key was incorrect and then that it had already been used. After about 3-4 hours of frustration I gave up. I tried the next day and it worked fine. Since then the only problem I've had is with it freezing up after the tactics screen when I'm about to play a match, however now I'm running it in a window this has stopped happening.
Once you get past this the game itself is great. It's exactly what you would expect. Each footy manager game (IMO) exceeds the previous one and this is no exception.
To anyone put off by all the 1* reviews I would say yes they are correct, there have been loads of issues with this game, but the are temporary issues. Once you get the game working you'll be very happy.
Let's all calm down and review this correctly November 16, 2008 44 out of 56 found this review helpful
Firstly, I can understand the initial frustration of activating this game and actually getting things started. But, from the looks of the reviews on here it appears as though loads of people have logged straight onto the Amazon review page on Friday night and in their anger given the game a 1 star rating. This is crazy. I too had the same problems on Friday night, but sucked it up, understood that tonnes of people are all trying to activate their game on the same night so just left it alone and did it Saturday morning - when it worked just fine. I've since spent nearly all of the weekend playing and have been completely addicted right the way through. It's a fantastic game and I really don't quite know what some of the people who have slagged it off - gameplay wise - were expecting... Highly recommended, don't be put off by all the daft 1 star reviews on here!!
Don't be put off by people who couldn't access the game November 27, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
There's a lot of 1s on this review for one reason, people love this game - get excited when it arrives and if they can't access it they're obviously very upset. Yes, they should have re-thought the whole online/telephone licence key issue, but after 24 hours of chaos everything should be OK. I've played every version going back to CM2 and CM Italia, and I can say this is an excellent addition to the series. The 3D game works, I was initially heavily oppossed to this idea. Don't be put off by reviews, which were written in the heat of the moment. The game works and works wellas long as you have a pc good enough, although mine is 4 years old and can run the 3d engine.
Ignore the moaners... November 18, 2008 9 out of 15 found this review helpful
FM2009 is the best game produced to date by Sports Interactive, of that there can be no doubt whatsoever. Some people are choosing to complain about the inclusion of Digital Rights Management by giving falsely low review scores here - ignore them! While DRM may not be ideal (it means you have to register your game online or over the phone), this is only being done to try and limit piracy.
The addition of an excellent 3D view to the same match engine, and a myriad of other additions make this offering a significantly improved offering to previous years. I struggled to get into FM2007 and 2008, but I've had no problems getting into FM2009 at all - highly recommended!
Seems pretty good to me! November 15, 2008 8 out of 14 found this review helpful
I got my game through this morning and loaded it up just fine. I think (as you should all already know) that the server just got too busy with all the FM fans loading up all day yesterday. But just for any fans you are thinking of getting it sometime soon, dont be put off by the really negative comments displayed. If you liked FM08, you'll love FM09. Thats just it.
