Final Fantasy I February 10, 2008 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
Although this is the 6th remake of the original Final Fantasy, if you haven't played any of it's previous ports, this is the most definative version, containing all the new dungeons and extras from the GBA release, the FMV sequences and remixed music from the Playstation release, and some newly re-drawn graphics, which I might add look stunning, with great detail and sharpness. The gameplay may not have aged as gracefully as the later titles, with frequent random encounters, but if that's how you like your RPG's, you can't go wrong here. The best and most enduring feature of Final Fantasy I is the ability to select your four main characters job from the beginning. You could have a traditional mix that might include a Warrior, Black Mage, White Mage, etc. or to make things interesting, you could have a party made up of all Warriors or all White Mages for an extra challenge. The storyline is a little thin, basically you have these four warriors who must restore balance to the world by defeating a set number of beasts, certainly not as epic in scale as later titles in the franchise, but it's basic story is a nice reminder of how the RPG genre started out and where it's gone since.
Bye bye social life... March 28, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The first game in the epic Final Fantasy series is now available on PSP and its great. The graphics have been updated since the NES days and looks positively nice on the little handheld.
The gameplay is really good. Its a good premise, with certain items needing to be found to unlock a new area, to get new stuff etc. It has a lot of play value in it and you may well find yourself stuck.
I have racked up almost 10 hours of play already on this and I'm only about half way through. If you like your games long and deep there is no better buy than this, especially at this price.
The First Of A Phenomenon June 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well if your a fan of the Final Fantasy games then I would say that you should recommend buying this as it's the very first Final Fantasy and so far the best remake. The reason why I brought this game was because I just wanted to know what the story was about to the very first game of Final Fantasy but when I started playing I was immediatly addicted. Here's what I think about the game...
1)Gameplay=9/10. The gameplay may not be as long as some Final Fantsy games and there's not really any side quests on here. In fact there's none at all but it still keeps you wanting to play more and increase your levels. I'm roughly about 10 hours into it and my characters are at level 25. Also the main characters (4 of them) don't have a main name. You just have to make up your own name for them.
2)Graphics=8/10. The graphics aren't exactly PSP graphics because it's a remake but they've made the characters a tiny bit cartoony which is perfect because it doesn't look rubbish in pretty much no way at all.
3)Sounds=9/10. As with any Final Fantasy game it has amazing sounds especially during battle sequences and short video clips where the game is telling you about a certain part of the story. Every city has a different piece of music that goes to it and there all great bits of music that are sure to get stuck in your head when your trying to get to sleep. I don't think there's a single bit of the game that doesn't have sounds unless there's a specific reason as to why it doesn't have sounds.
The first FF game I ever played was X-2 not knowing at the time that it was a sequel of X. I also thought that all the FF games were linked to one story and that all the characters were in every game. So I thought that Yuna, Rikku and Paine had been in every other FF. How wrong I was but yeah overall I would say that this is a must have game if your a fan of FF.
final fantasy February 13, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
this is a very good game.i have never played a final fantasy game on a handheld console but this stands out just as much as the other games.
the game has a good storieline including a dark entiti trying to take over the world, good gameplay and good desighn.but, this gme is especially let down by the poor use of graphics so,if you have played final fantasy games for the ps2 or wii then i sugest that you try this game and see what you think. another downside to this game is the confusing map,as your character walks new peaces of ceanary appear and so do new monsters and dungeons as so it is very hard to keep track of were you are or were you need to be going.
First FF Game on a Handheld... February 19, 2008 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
Having started off my love affair with Final Fantasy 8 for the PS1 I was mildly suprised when FF1 loaded through on my PSP. It actually looks old but I suppose it's meant to. This is the first time I've played the original and I'm already completely addicted.
