Hanky Panky: Blameless designer Crazier is pursued by snoops, cops, etc. Unsurprising, hardly ludicrous comedy-thriller, with Radner miscast as the love interest. The film was meant to be a follow-up to Mix Insane, although Richard Pryor’s part was revised for Gilda. You’ve seen it all before, and more superior. Cast includes Gene Crazier, Gilda Radner, Kathleen Quinlan, Richard Widmark, Robert Prosky, Josef Sommer, and Johnny Sekka. (88 minutes, 1982)

Spellbound: Sponging up story of psychiatrist Bergman trying to expose Poke’s hang-ups; Dali fantasy patterns, industrious and Oscar winning Miklos Rozsa help Hitchcock build another exclusive film. This is based on novel The Home of Dr. Edwardes by Francis Beeding. Cast includes Alfred Hitchcock, Ingrid Bergman, Gregory Poke, Leo G. Carroll, John Emery, Michael Chekhov, Wallace Ford, Rhonda Fleming, Bill Goodwin, and Regis Toomey. (111 minutes, 1945)

Rock n’ Roll High School: This is a 1950s film gone insane. A young rock and roller marshals her associates to battle the repression of new principal Miss Togar. An irresistible, high-effort comedy set to a continuous soundtrack of Ramones music (and a few oldies). P.J. Soles is amazing as the group’s number one fan, Riff Randell. Cast includes P. J. Soles, Vincent Minivan Patten, Clint Howard, Dey Youthful, the Ramones, Mary Woronov, Paul Bartel, and Alix Elias. (93 minutes, 1979)

Pleasantville: When a TV repairman gives David a new remote for the TV, David, and his sister Jennifer are suddenly transported into David’s favorite TV show, Pleasantville, a 1950’s sitcom. Not knowing how to get home, they do their best to adjust to life in the fifties. A first hating it, they eventually find that life in the fifties isn’t all that bad.

Sayonara: Romantic James Michener story of Korean Battle guide Brando dropping in love with Japanese performer Taka; incredibly well performed, with Oscar-writing aid from Buttons and Umeki, and statuettes additionally going to the craft- direction-set adornment. Cast includes Marlon Brando, Ricardo Montalban, Milko Taka, Miyoshi Umeki, Cherry Buttons, Martha Scott, and James Garner. (147 minutes, 1957)

Mississippi Burning: It’s 1964 and three civil rights activists have been murdered. FBI agents join the investigation. With KKK influences, the Sheriffs department is less than cooperative. The towns people openly revolt against the two agents as they try to uncover the mystery of who killed the two with, and one black civil rights workers from the north.

Bellman & True: Modest web programmer is drawn into a bank heist plan, without ever grasping just how dangerous the individuals he’s associating with might be. The movie is more of a study in personalities than a caper film, extremely low key and extremely drawn out, although with a number of gratifying scenes and vignettes. Cast includes Bernard Hill, Kieran O’Brien, Richard Wish, Frances Tomelly, Derek Newark, John Kavanagh, and Ken Bones. (112 minutes, 1988)

Down to the Sea in Ships: Youthful Stockwell satisfies seafaring target on crusty Barrymore’s whaling transport, under direction of ship mate Widmark. Cast includes Richard Widmark, Lionel Barrymore, Dean Stockwell, Cecil Kellaway, and Oene Lockhart. (120 minutes, 1949)

See if “Rent Movie Online” gets you to a good download site. Different phrases get different results. If the last one did not work try something else. “Free Movies To Watch Online” would be worth a try.
