How To Avoid Mistakes When Buying A Digital Camera

Posted on 27 April, 2009 | No Comments

Many people make mistakes and most camera purchasing is a real testament to that statement. Majority of individuals thinks just because they know something about megapixels and zooming things then they don’t have to worry about some other digital camera characteristics.

So, before you purchase camera keep on your mind these classic 4 mistakes in buying cameras that you should avoid. You shouldn’t be buying the digital camera without seeing it in person.

Reading reviews, specifications, features and comparisons are some of the fundamental things in buying digital camera nowadays and people seem to be easily fascinated with only this type of presentation. Actually, you need to like the digital camera before buying. Even if you order camera online, the most important recommendation I could give you is to go to your local digital camera shop first and check the model you thing you want to buy. The cameras on the internet are presented with nice words with only one goal and that is to seduce you to buy it but feeling that mode in your hands before buying will make the difference. Try it with various tasks and in various situations so you can observe how easy or hard is to use it, you’ll see if the digital camera controls are easy to use etc.

Buying some expensive model without being sure you really need it is not a great thinking. It was said many times that price comes with quality and if you pay more you get more. Yeah, anybody would choose the coolest, shiniest, and sophisticated looking cameras. But the question is, can you can spend that much? Before purchasing be certain it meets your needs. For example, if you’re new to cameras and you haven’t been taking a lot of pictures are you certain you can operate those modern digital SLR with lots of manual controls? I don’t think so. It’s always the best to look for in the range of money you can spend, but focus on finding the best digital camera for your specific needs.

Looking only for a lot of Megapixels can also be a huge mistake. A 10.2 Megapixel digital camera will be more appealing than a 7.2 digital camera model. It is quite normal because we need the best to fit our needs but also remember that megapixels shouldn’t be the only factor in making a decision.
You can find 10.2 MP cameras that feature only 3x zoom while some 7.2 digital camera models have 4x zoom. Photographs made with 10.2 megapixel camera take more memory than photographs taken with 7.2 megapixel camera. There are more factors beside megapixels because different features like zoom could be much more important to you.

Be sure of what you want from a digital camera. Before buying a camera, you should be clear on why you want that exact model. If you’re only purchasing just to have it without clear reason why you want it then that’s worse than not buying it. You need to know what features you want that are reflecting your style of life. Think of making a list of your most essential features, and then rank them accordingly. This way you can work on finding a camera that meets those needs best and worry about other features after.

You should first see if it fits you but we recommend you to check out Canon SD1100IS On the other hand if Canon SD1100IS is not what you want and you want better go for Canon SD880IS.
