Wheeeeee for the Wii!! May 6, 2008 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
I bought this console specifically for using with a Wii Fit. I'm not really a huge computer games fan, and the last console I owned was the original PlayStation, waaaaay back in the day. I was pleasantly surprised by how much more advanced this is than that. The interactivity between the player and the game is great, and the way the remote is sensitive to movements in every dimension makes the Sports pack included with the console much more realistic. I'm not really a fan of the golf, but that's just personal preference, but the other games are great. Boxing really works up a sweat! The Wii Fit is also fantastic, so have a look at that, too. Completely addictive and I've not had a day off it since buying it ten days ago. I can really feel the difference, too. My "Wii Fit age" has reduced to 23 - not bad for a 30-yr-old, but I'm determined to get it even lower!
Reflections after 2 months of ownership October 29, 2007 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
It's rare to spend 200 and not to have a moment's regret, but the Wii has been the exception for me. From the moment I set it up, it's really earned its keep in our house. The kids love it and so do I. Here's why...
1. The included Wii Sports game is extraordinary, surely the best first person sports sim on any platform. The novel control method is utterly intuitive and I've never played a computer game requiring so much physical exertion.
2. The wireless network took seconds to configure. I wish my last laptop had been so easy.
3. With the addition of games like Wii Play, Mario Party and the like, my five-year-old can compete on equal terms with the older children and with adults.
4. I still want to play Wii Sports every day.
I recommend this console unhesitatingly.
You wont regret it January 31, 2007 23 out of 25 found this review helpful
I'm not going to repeat what many reviews have already said. I'm going to make a quick summary that hopefully describes just what the wii is like.
I'm 18 and have played the 360 and have been amazed at the graphics of games like gears of war. Me and my mates were really impressed. But that was it. Just good graphics.
However, Everyone I've spoken to who has played it wii has gone BESERCK as soon as I mentioned it. You see a sort of childish enthusiasm that you had when you first played mario bros in the 90's
This is becuase Nintendo has once again reached a new medium of playing. Whenever this happens, people find a whole new way of enjoying themselves, as opposed to a turbo charged version of a predecesor.
One thing I can guarantee you is that you've NEVER played anything like this before.
thankyou for reading
Great bit of kit, but a disgraceful state of affairs! December 17, 2006 43 out of 48 found this review helpful
I was one of the lucky ones that managed to get hold of this fantastic bit of kit when Amazon made some available last week. I am so pleased with it, this to me is next gen gaming. It has put the fun back in to video games, my Wife loves it too (Even though when I said I was buying one it was met with the response "You don't need one of those, why do you need another games console blah blah blah!" She's on it more than me now!!
However I do feel there are some people out there that are not as lucky as me and opportunists are taking advantage of them by selling this product for well over double the asking price on this very website, and I dare say that they were bought off Amazon too! I feel that steps should be taken by Amazon to ban them from doing this, similar to how eBay have banned the sale of Diana Concert tickets. I realise the money for that is going to a good cause, however isn't making a family member happy at Christmas by getting them a gift that they have probably gone on about for ages without having to pay nearly a mortgage payment amount for a good cause too. I feel that Amazon should address this issue; I have contacted them on several occasions but as yet have not received a reasonable explanation!
It's a real pity.
Tried and Tested November 20, 2006 42 out of 47 found this review helpful
I was at bluewater on saturday 18th November and played on one of two wii consoles available to play on. I played the tennis game on Wii Sports, it was really fun and the controls felt really natural, it took about 10 seconds to get used to the controls and it was very responsive. If you swung too late the ball would fly off to the side of the court and swinging the remote faster or slower definitely made a difference to how far the ball went. The graphics are definitely not the best out of the three next generation consoles, but that doesn't matter when the gameplay is as fun as it is, and the graphics are definitely not awful. The tennis game looked very good, and the Mii feature is a nice add on. You did not get the chance to make your own but they had a small selection on pre created mii's that you could choose from. I did not get a chance to play on the other game on show, Wii Play but I was watching other people play it and they seemed to be enjoying it alot. People from all ages were playing. I would suggest this as an ideal christmas present for parents and children alike.
