Oh my goodness... July 16, 2007 1 out of 15 found this review helpful
I don't know what twisted reason drove Nintendo to make something as tragic as this, but it happened.
Now lets see, the wii is an average experiance but if you ONLY play console games with your mates(and by that I mean at least 3 other people apart from you). If you want to kill time with other people, then its ok.. But if you play on your own(even once in a million years) its a very very bad experiance. The games that are actually on it are horrible, the graphics are the same(and sometimes worse) than previous gen consoles, but the thing that really annoyed me was the way they killed how controllers worked, now you look stupid everytime you're playing on it alone.
ONLY buy if you play console games with your mates EVERY single time. Otherwise forget it.

I have owned a 360 for about a year and after getting this console free from a raffle i can saw one thing:
This is bad.
Had fun on the first night i had it. The day after i turned it on for 15 minutes... but after realising all i could do was hit a slow moving tennis ball against an AI opponent, i soon turned it off and went for COD4 on the xbox 360.
Decided to go for "Wii Play" mainly to get the extra controller. Fun to start with, thought things weren't so bad for the Wii. Played each mini-game twice or so ...... back to COD4.....
Truly the most boring console for me.
ON THE OTHER HAND my cousin who's 11 years old came to visit us for the weekend. She absolutely LOVED it.
Overall: Only ever use on occasions with more than 4 people- it's quite amusing with 4 people playing tennis. If you own one of those 11 year old girls who loves TV then this is a good console.
Otherwise BAD! severely...
NOTE: Havn't bought any "proper" games but frankly i didnt want to waste the money.

the thing about it is where can you not find news and forecast and shopping. After you strip them stupid channels away what does the wii have to offer. Ps3 has blu ray and has always functioned well. This has a mii centre with choice less than what you would find on even the sims so that means for a 20 game has more than what this has. Wii plainly after creating novelty characters still a cutesy console. Please nintendo you might be from japan and like tamagochi and pokemon but ps has been serious and serious graphics. Youre still giving your biggest market 20 somethings player with disattached balls for hands and a conical whatever for a torso and bright fat bubbly letters springing out at you saying win and well done. wii play was a letdown and they always rely too heavily on mario and that and still the same thing super paper mario paper whats nextt cardboard. the thing that seems with nintendo they're going down hill firing out what gt prologue is to gran turismo a bridging gap but for some reason theres never a premium console. cheap and cheerful doesn't wash. They're console go down to 199.99. always cheap but competition back in the day was little with only sega really in there. the other thing is when playstation and xbox has mastered axising for knowing where the control is rather wii is more motion than flash remote. this tech. is still in infancy but they should have focused more on getting the wii mote signals bang on then you as a beginner can pick up the remote a not have t say cheating bastard computer why's it done that. there should be a better memory built in so less memory card are needed i would recommend stop buying nintendos. Wii sports probably on of the best family friendly console games in years. after a week ahs passed that will wear off. japanese like small things and nintendo make small consoles. i correct small piles of rubbish
The Wii - Great For a while, then what? ... November 12, 2008 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was a proud owner of a Nintendo Wii for about 4 or 5 months. In the early portion of that period I found the console to deliver an exciting unique approach to gaming that I'd never experienced before. Games such as the free Wii Sports were (although I thought quite basic to begin with) extremely rewarding to play. The premise of actually swinging a tennis racket or throwing a bowling ball was a lot of fun. Then came games like Mario Kart, an excellent classic game that now became as much fun as the arcade racer where you could turn a physical wheel. Add onto that the more conventional games like Resident Evil that offered a FPS style game with the Wii-mote as your gun.
It all sounds so exciting. Sadly as time passed the initial excitement of these few games began to wear off. Browsing new games became dull as there only ever appeared to be a few I thought were worth buying. A few then turned to 1 or two, then to 1, then sadly to, "not this year, maybe next". I still can't find many games for the Wii that make me think "this console was definitely worth the money".
I'm old school when it comes to consoles (Spectrum ZX, Sega Master System, Megadrive, Playstation), so I'm used to top titles aimed at those who like long lasting quality games and plenty of them. What I found was the market I was entering was for people who really don't play games that often, or those that are content to wait on what Mario will do next (he does seem to hold a monopoly on the best games for the Wii). Games that I was excited about were stripped down with the words "Family Play" or similar plastered on the box. All the depth and excitement was gone from even the games I was after (I speak of Madden and Fifa). The promise of the Wii was started to annoy (along with it's many horrid celebrity endorsed adverts). Now it may be argued that I should have stayed away from the Wii, but with all the hype surrounding it I figured something great must emerge.
My Wii has now been sold.
To all those that are thinking about buying a Wii this review is a friendly word of warning. If your at all unsure that this console will satisfy your gaming needs take a browse through the game titles and make sure your happy with what Nintendo are offering. If like me you come from a more old school gaming background then you will quickly find (as I did) that the Wii was simply not built for you.
Wii will NOT rock you . August 9, 2008 14 out of 40 found this review helpful
Well well well, I have played with this thing many atime, and have decided it is pretty naff, it just doesn't have staying power, the only games it seems to have are Multi-Platforms, Bunches of awful minigames, or Nintendo re makes (MARIO AGAIN ANYONE?!)
No one can deny its popularity, but it just isn't as good as everybody says it is, Nintendo just pay members of the public to say it's amazing on television (wii fit im looking at you)
"stand out" games included things like Super Paper Mario (surprised to see mario rear his ugly head?)
Mario Kart (Guess who)
And Smash Bros. Brawl Starring....MARIO!
Okay, hats off to the NES with Mario Bros. and Duckhunt, But they should have left it there, it is clear Nintendo are running out of ideas.
I have noticed that the price on here has dropped by a whole penny, why on earth is this? it should be 20 cheaper by now surely.
So yeah, the Wii... Will play minigames and ps2 ports, the control scheme gets boring after a week and it the only multimedia it can cope with is telling you the weather and showing you how much spare time people have on the Mii Parade.
Let's see where the Wii is this time next year...I'm thinking the back pages of argos with a bundle of about 4 games. (all of which will include Mario Im sure)
It will follow the same path as the DS, one good game every year.
Don't waste 179.99 of your hard earned cash.
WOOPS I mean 179.98!
