This is simply the best game I have played this generation of consoles (if not ever).
Every scenario has been meticulously thought through and has environments that encourage gameplay styles from each of the previous games as well as those encouraging new tactic and skill development such as pursuit, tracking and ambush detection. You will find yourself totally immersed in the sneaking parts of this game. I often find my grip tightening on the controller as I tiptoe past guards or dashing between cover to avoid a patrol. This element of the gameplay has not been changed though shooting the enemy has been made much easier for those without the patience to sneak.
Fans of the series will be dissapointed in no way with the wrapping up of all loose ends and appearances from almost every character in the 10 years of metal gear solid. Beware though; this means a lot of cutscenes.
If you have not played a game in the series before I strongly urge you to play through the previous MGS games. They are all very good games (even the old ps1 original) and you will be at a loss to what is going on unless you involve yourself in the story. Frequent flashbacks will also be meaningless without background knowlege.
Presentation is immaculate. You'll be hard pushed to find a single flawed texture. Even in cutscenes you are invited to zoom in (with the d-pad) and search for the slightest problem. Every setting looks exactly how you would expect from the streets of Eastern Europe to the Middle Eastern Warzones, the jungles of South America and more that may spoil your experience if I were to mention them.
New items and weapons are included and there are extensive customisation options to be tinkered with such as suppressors, laser, red dot and rifle sights along with weapon attachments like grenade launchers and shotguns for secondary fire. You are kitted out with many high tech sneaking aids such as the solid eye and octocamo (which removes the need for manual camoflage changing as in snake eater)
If you own a ps3 system this is THE must have game. Sneaking has been brought to a whole new level in snake's final mission.

I only played a little so far because of lack of time to play due to work and college. What I seen so far is amazing the graphics are great and the whole overall layout in excellent. It's a game where you just want to continue playing. I been waiting for the this title for some long before I even had a PS3 this game was the one I had to get. This game really shows the quality of the PS3. Can't say that much more as I haven't finsh it but it is a must buy.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is Mind-Blowing and without a question of a doubt it's the best Metal Gear Solid you'll ever play! maybe even the best game you'll play so far this year.
An instant classic that will amaze you from start to finish. Your not gonna get close to a film-like version of Metal Gear Solid but this is pretty damn good and ends Solid Snake's saga perfectly.
10/10 A Masterpiece - If you haven't played it yet - YOUR MAD!!

This is unlike any game you will play as you play it you will sometimes watch the cut scenes and play the game and you will think are these people real its just so life like these are one of the few games that i actually cared about the characters it is truly one of a kind

I know "possibly the best game ever made" sounds like an over statement but it is anything but. I have only played a few hours so far and already love it.
One thing you will read is that "there are too many cut-scenes... blah blah blah". I have to admit there are alot but if you like MGS and the storyline then they are a good thing. Also remember they only just managed to fit the entire game onto a 90gig dual layer blu-ray disc so even if there are alot of movies the game play will still be very extensive.
Another negative review I have read on the American sites is that the picture quality is poor as the developers decided to sacrifice picture quality for game longevity and A.I. I have watch loads of cut-scenes now and the picture quality is the best I have scene on any computer game.
If you are thinking of playing this game without playing any of the previous Metal Gear games please don't. You are best to start off with Metal Gear Solid and then move onto Sons of Liberty, Snake Eater and then the Guns of the Patriots. This way you will understand the story line aswell as experience the whole game series from start to finish.
In summary this is the best game ever, and even if you don't agree with me you will think its amazing.
