I have to agree with other comments - all hype.
I am bored of it after one hour (yes I actually gave it that long before consigning it to the bin) - the graphics are nice, but that is it.
The controls are not all that great, the story is wanting, and I really wish I could get my money back.

not even as good as some of the originals just better graphics online play system is terrible a totally over rated game im trading it in straight away as beleive me after a couple of hours of playing it just gets more and more boring

as an avid grand theft auto fan and after the brilliant san andreas on ps2 i was expecting this to surpass it with ease but was very dissapointed a another reviewer states it's like a grand theft auto 3 add on and they couldnt be more right i found the car handling to be very over the top and got bored of it before i had even got off the 1st island in my opinion no where near as good and as addictive as vice city or san andreas. rockstar need to think more about the gaming side and not how great it looks. as this seems the case when GTA made its debut on the ps3

After all the hype for this game it simply turns out to be a clone of GTA3 with better graphics. They removed most of what was fun about san andreas in the name of "realism" such as the crazy car handling, planes , jet packs, mini gun, chainsaw, stupid storylines etc. Also you die much more easily if u fall off a bike which makes driving fast a pain in the ass and the new cover system is garbage and has nothing on the cover system in uncharted or gears of war. Also the aiming system is just as retarded as ever. The story is not Oscar worthy as some sites would have you believe(ign), its just the usual go kill some drug dealers and steal their drugs and as I said there are no stupid funny missions like working for the porn studio in vice city.
To summarize they have basically removed everything that was fun about grand theft auto in the name of "realism". sure its more "realistic" but that just makes it boring because its supposed to be wild and crazy which is something GTAbore definitely is not. Make sure you rent this game first so you can try before you buy as im sure you will see what I mean when I say its just GTA3 with better graphics.
I gave it 1 star overall for it being such a monumental disappointment and reaching nowhere near the level of hype it received but i did give it 3 stars for fun as I am sure you will be able to get a weeks enjoyment out of it before you trade it in like I did.

Just received my copy of the game and couldn't wait to start playing. After the tedious loading screen it was down to business. Graphics wise it just looks like a slightly sharper version of GTA 3 on the PS2! But I'd thought I'd give it the benefit of the doubt and that maybe gameplay and content would be considerably superior. Well 10 minutes into the game it freezes making the PS3 unresponsive! After resetting the system I tried to load the game again without success! I have now had to remove all data from the PS3 in order to carry out a fresh install. After completing the tedious install (again), I found that the game froze for a second time!!
This game is a piece of overhyped and underdeveloped rubbish! Until a patch is released to iron out these obvious flaws, then I won't attempt to play the game ever again. Oh and before fanboys everywhere start saying this is a one-off, check all the complaints posted on the web.
