5 out of 5 stars This is how games should be made.   May 22, 2008

Bad language, violence, great action, brilliant story, fantastic voice-acting ... what more can I say except this is how games should be made. This is also the best game i have played on the 360. The graphics and sound-track are also of the highest quality.

You are Nico Bellik making it in the fictional American metropolis of Liberty City. Here you will come across the mafia, triads, Irish gansters, the Rusian mafia. You will make friend and enemies, battle it out with the cops and criminals alike.

Excellent!! Its a shame other companies dont have the balls to make more games like this. GTA 4 is the best of the series in almost every way and I cant wait to see where the franchise goes from here.

Be warned though ... this game is excellent only in the one-player mode .... although there are plenty of options and game-types, the multiplayer game it kind of sucks.

5 out of 5 stars the best GTA to date   October 8, 2008

Its simple, if you have played any of the GTA series then this is a must buy.

Its truely a great game, a few bugs but that does not take anything away from it. The protagonist is believable and so is the situation.

You start off as a Russian immigrant to Liberty City who comes over to start a new life with fat cousin. His cousin boasts about all the women, cars and houses he has so you willingly go over to the US but you find out that its loads of rubbish. You decide that you have to fight for a living and everything starts from there.

Its worth the money, its a great game.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Game   April 29, 2008

Everything it could have been.

And to those saying it exposes the 360.. how does a proven hihger res expose it? doesn't expose it as much as losing 12 rounds of head to heads on Eurogamer in the first year as the PS3 has done.. now that's exposure early in the consoles life.

How about stop being fanboys and just enjoy the game. I own both consoles, it's nice being open minded enough to have the choice and not have to lie to try to stop people supporting other formats (who do peole do this anyway?0

5 out of 5 stars Grand Theft Auto Phwoor !!!   May 2, 2008

What can I say about this game that hasn't been said already.
Ordered on the Evening of Wednesday 23 Arrived Wednesday 30.

I had a few Problems at first Namely the game being dark and hard to see, but after a quick look at the menu I was able to adjust the contrast which improved things greatly.

Graphically this game is fantastic you see everything run someone over and you get a blood splat on the car. The people move and behave in a very realistic way, get into a fight and they will join in or call the police on there Mobiles.

Dating and taking friends out is greatly Improved no more Guessing where to take your Girlfriend she will suggest somewhere nice.

The stealing of Parked cars is now a touch harder making escapes that bit more fun, Niko has to break the window then hot wire the engine adding that little bit more realism.

Get lost easily well worry not every car comes with an easy GPS Sat Nav System giving you helpful directions to your chosen destination. A very handy Inclusion because remember real men don't ask for directions.

All in All a Top Notch game, well worth shelling out Forty Quid for I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Just one last thing keep away from the kids, I am seriously thinking about buying another XB0X Just to play this game (currently using the kids when they are not about).

5 out of 5 stars Rocky start but it gets much better   May 11, 2008

I was expecting big things from this game and it doesn't dissapoint. When I first started playing I thought it had lost something in the gameplay, but how wrong I was. The more you progress through the game the more you realise just how many side missions there are. It seems at first to be quite linear but after a while when you have met various people and they appear in your phone memory you work out that all the side missions are accessed from your phone and not little icons on the map like previous versions of the game. A nice touch is the internet cafe where you can check emails, browse a make belief web (well funny), date girls (and men!!!), Buy cars from an autotrader type site among other things. This is where you find the equivelant of the old import export missions too.
The detail of the vehicles and the whole city is amazing, however the actual graphics resolution is not quite as good as some other recent games. Dont let this put you off though as they are still very good indeed, even if you can only display 720p/1080i as is the case with older consoles.
The vehicles handle differently than previous versions but not worse. They seem more realistic than before and won't screech round hairpin bends at breakneck speeds anymore, but with a little prectise you will get the hang of slowing down for corners. I really like the new driving physics a lot. Just jump in a Dodge Charger, sorry, I mean a "Dukes" and hammer the throttle into a bend and watch it drift leaving black rubber marks and tyre smoke while the body rolls around like an old yank should. Or you could try a top heavy Escalade and watch it lean over while the front end looses traction on the tight turns.
The main character Niko really comes to life and has more depth and personality than any gta character before him.
Any gta fan giving this one a negative review surely has not given the game a chance or played long enough to give an informed review. Nothing has changed except maybe the exclusion of planes (I loved the dodo which CAN be flown indefinately). The game just got better and will live for a very long time before we see anything better.
