The best PS3 game ever!! June 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got this with my PS3 and wow- does it show of it's skill- the graphics are incredible!! The controls aren't too difficult but neither are they too easy (especially when your being chased over roof tops with a 100ft drop while being fired at with arrows and stones!)
Some pro- gamers will find the game too short but I completed it in just over a week but what a week! Towards the middle the game can start to feel repetitive but this is countered by several HUGA bombshell in the plot towards the end.
I can't wait for the sequal! a perfect mix of fighting, stealth, graphics, storyline and a bleak vision of the future (you'll see what I mean)
Not a game....an experience!!!! June 9, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this game....it looks great visually, the movements are amazing. Even the music adds to it all...exploring the cities you can almost taste the dust!
There is a lot of critism on the gameplay, but hats off to the developers for doing something completely different. I have never played anything like this before...the closest thing I can think of is KOTOR....? People say the game is repetitive, but what game isn't? All FPS games are by their nature. All the assassination victims killings are different and you need different approach stategies to complete them.
My only worry is AC2 will be more of the same, as how can you expand an Assassins lifestyle in the Crusades period out anymore????
The first real Playstation 3 game November 15, 2007 9 out of 13 found this review helpful
Let's be honest. Until now the Playstation 3 has not had a game which stood out as being "next-gen". Here is the first PS3 game which deserves the award of taking advantage that the playstation 3 offers. The great thing is that it not only looks like a next-gen game but it also plays like it.
The graphics are absolutely phenomenal. Never before have I seen such amazing graphics. The in-game graphics are literally as good as the Final Fantasy High Def cinematics on the PS2. The greatest thing is you are playing whilst having these amazing graphics floating around your character.
When I started the game with the tutorial I didn't bother to read any of the hints simply because I was so amazed at how amazing the game looked. The cloak will move perfectly with the air, the shadows blend perfectly on the walls, the sun glints off of metal objects and smooth surfaces. Never before have I seen this done before. What's more amazing is every aspect of the game is simply fabulous to gaze at. The background landscape. The characters who you can't talk to. Everything just seems to look perfect.
The graphics are not the only thing which amaze though. At first the controls seem a bit confusing but the learning curve is very short and you get immediately into the action: Slicing throats with your trusty hand dagger; grabbing soldiers before thrusting a sword up their stomach; stealthily creeping past the guards to an important treasure; or climbing the walls of a hundred meter tower. Everything that you may do is simply a joy to do because of the smoothness of the controls and the amazing graphics.
The developers of "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" have certainly not dissapointed us. We get a great immersive story told to us which we may complete in the slickest of fashion. This is the game which has restored my faith in Sony. It's game's like these which are the reason why I picked the Playstation 3. (Yes it is on the 360, but it looks better on the PS3 on a hi def TV)
amazing November 25, 2007 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I don't know why people give this game bad reviews. It is the best graphics and most enjoyable game ever, exept from call of duty 4. Yes you are doing the same thing over and over. But the game gives you complete freedom to kill your targets in anyway you feel like. So don't just assasinate every guy that you need to by going in sword blazing slashing down everyone in your path. Sometimes try the assasins way and climb over the top of building silently killing off gards with throwing daggers and your secret knife. Don't do it the same way every time otherwise it will become a bore. This is probably the reason that the makers of the game made everything interactive.
Also in the graphice department I have never seen such a beautiful peice of art. So I recommend this game to anyone with a ps3 or xbox360 and if you do it right you really will live what its like to be a real assasins.
I give thisw game-
10/10 for graphics
10/10 for gameplay
and 10/10 for the alround game.
Amazing acomplishment in gaming November 20, 2007 7 out of 12 found this review helpful
Hopefully you've read the description above which gives a detailed overview of the story of Assassin's Creed. I'll get on to my own experience of the game;
I'd say that Assassin's Creed is the most beautiful game ever created. In terms of level design, accuracy, realism, texture and animation this game is a true masterpiece. The three cities you will be exploring are absolutely huge and no stone has been unturned in making them as detailed and accurate as possible. The streets are full of life with completely interactive characters, guards, beggars, thugs and others all going about their own business. The sun shines bright giving the impression of a baking hot and dusty atmosphere with the clouds even blotting out the sun from time to time.
Every single building, ledge, statue, beam of wood, basically any object in the 3D world you can climb, jump, stand and crawl along. It's a truly remarkable achievement that the developers have created and something you will never have seen before in games. The game is so gorgeous you will want to just walk around the streets or run along the rooftops or climb sky-high structures to get a full birds-eye view of whichever city you're exploring at the time.
Altair is very easy to control, he works by a body part-to-button scheme where he's legs for example will be the X button and his right arm will be the O button. Altair will be able to do alot so this control scheme is really pleasing to use. The main missions are within the three cities Jerusalem, Acre and Damascus but there's also a Kingdom and surrounding areas which link these all together on the map. The cities are surrounded by huge walls and you will have to find your way in without getting into a fight with the guards. when outside of the cities you will be able to jump on horses which will make travelling much quicker and they are forever faithfull to you and will follow you if necessary.
You have four weapons - a really cool hidden blade, throwing knives, sword and your fist. Your weapons and skills are removed from you early in the game and with each successful assassination you gain them back. This scheme works well as you can learn how to become great at fighting and stealth and when you do get your weapons back you'll find that it makes life alot easier as some of the guards can be a really tough challenge. Your throwing knives will be great for taking out guards from a long distance without causing a fuss or getting spotted by other guards so you can then proceed to certain areas. Guards guard main areas and will always be on the lookout so you have to be sneaky.
You can do a few missions within the cities such as pickpocket thugs for throwing knives, help citizens who will then let others know and groups will then help you out during chases by slowing down guards for you and also there are lots of flags to find giving you great reason to go exploring the gorgeous surroundings. Each city is broken into three parts and you have to assassinate a target in each part. To do this you will need to gather information by eavesdropping, pickpocket certain characters and by doing favours for informers, this will all lead to more information about your target and how you can find them to complete your mission. Once you have all you need you're onto the assassination. You have to find your guy whilst getting past lots of guards and kill him then get out of their fast!
There's a huge rush you get after killing your main target and the whole city goes on red alert and every guard is looking for you. The chase is on and the streets can be your enemy or your saviour. The main fault with Assassin's Creed is this same way of finding/killing your target applies to each of the nine guys you have to take out, and that's basically it. There are no other styles of gameplay and that's why some people say the game is repetative, and in that sense it is, however, free-roaming and building up your skills and just enjoying such a massive fully-interactive world is a massive attraction that will give you hours of fun. To top that off there is the story and the fantastic interactive cutscenes and colourful characters within the game.
I've had so much fun with Assassin's Creed, it's one of my all time favourites. It's truly remarkable and something every gamer should experience at least once even if it's a rental. The graphics are better on the PS3 version of the game also and you will not believe your eyes when you see the sheer size/design of the levels. If you love great graphics, a deep story with twists, free-roaming and the ability to become one of the coolest master assassin's there is then you owe it to yourself to check out or buy this game. 10/10 from me.
