1 out of 5 stars WAIT FOR THE DUALSHOCK 3!!!   January 4, 2008

Don't buy a second sixaxis! The controller is good, but it will be rendered useless soon as Sony have anounced that they will be releasing the Dualshock 3 in early 2008, apparently they have managed to overcome the difficulties of having a rumble function and motion sensor in one controller.

Don't waste your money on this, wait a little while and then you can have a controller that rumbles, which is a big plus in my opinion.

1 out of 5 stars The only thing not cheap is the price!!!   March 19, 2007

So... You take the PS2 Controller, you steal the Wii's concept (but don't really use it in any usefull way) and blend it together in a lackluster plastic controller with no force feedback and short batery lifespan...

The motion sensor stolen fro the Wii was poorly implemented and on the very few occasions that it is called for (but not requeried) fails in detecting the motions in time. The plastic is just cheap and the absence of force feedback makes it look like a controller from some very old generation...

SONY has already admitted that they could have done a better job on this (DUH!) and an improved controller should be coming this year... One more way to get into people's pockets...

1 out of 5 stars Truly awful   July 26, 2007

I was hoping that Sony would decide to significantly rework their pad for the PS3, and I was disappointed to see that yet again the pad is just a re-hash of a re-hash. The original playstation pad was fine, however when the N64 came along and 3D games became more popular, it became necessary for them to tag-on the 3D sticks. Next the Rumble Pak came out, and was tagged-on to the same pad. The left stick needs desperately to be in the dominant position, after-all, the d-pad is largely irrelevant nowadays. The worst tag-on is the tilt functionality again, crudely stolen from another company's innovation. I think its time for a radical re-design, or does Sony have such a dim view of its customers that it is afraid to change?

1 out of 5 stars ready to rumble?   March 15, 2007

dual shock is returning now sony has paid to use the technology. They got sued for copying it before, so despite them saying dual shock was incompatible this is lies! So hold off buying your spare controller as you will only end up buying another with the full features!

If you don`t like tragedy storys then look away now. When I went into PC world I saw the demo Play Station 3 lying under a flat-screen TV with a wireless controller resting beside it. I thought I`d give it a go, and I`m lucky I did because otherwise I might have considered buying the rip-off thing. Anyway, as I took up the controller it felt particularly light and tinny, when you would actually want something slightly more solid on your hands. As I started to play, I noticed that it wouldn`t rumble even under huge crashes and bumps [it was a poorly formatted racing game]. When I went to press the left/right 2 buttons [the bottom ones] I noticed that they were cheap molded plastic that slid bumpily and had trouble popping back out. There was also bad reception between the controller and the console After that I left wondering why they are charging more for a more cheaply made product; I came to the conclusion that it was marketing greed. Anyway, if you want better games and controllers go try X-box, and don`t even think of falling for sonys little game of catch the money [PS 4].
