just buy it...it makes using the PS3 as a home entertainment system so much easier, the sixaxis is good but as a dvd controller its a little tricky

I think that this is a 'must have' if you have an HD TV and watch movies. The picture from the PS3 compared to a normal DVD player is so much better (and obviously better again with a Blu Ray disc).
The only problem with using the SIXAXIS is that the buttons are too easily pressed mid-movie.
The remote makes navigation much easier as it's labelled and I have yet to accidentally press a button during a movie. The hardest bit is getting out of the habbit of pointing the remote at the console!
My only gripe is the same with both the remote and the SIXAXIS- I keep accidentally pressing the PS button when I them up and turning the console on!

If gaming is your scene, and playing around with the supplied games contoller is second nature to you, then this remote control will probably be way down your 'must have' list.
If, however, you are like me and bought the PS3 more for playing Blu-ray and up-scaled DVDs than for the games, then having this piece of kit is just about a no-brainer. The non gamers 'must have'.
I bet, though, that like me you will continue to point it at the Playstation even with it being Bluetooth and not I/R !!

Okay so I admit, at first I was skeptical I would ever need this controller, that was until I started to get into the utilising the media capabilities of the system.
While of course it could all be done via the ps3's sixaxis controller I found it to be fiddly and going through a lot of menus while playing dvds etc was a pain so I gave it a shot.
Very easy to setup, just pair it with the ps3 and your away, the design resembles what you would expect from the sony bravia remote which for me was a bonus it made finding things very easy.
No more fiddling around with menus, missing moments in movies and other videos I put on the ps3, quick simple access thats all there on the remote.
People who want to use the console as a media centre not just for game playing this is a must have.

Great - and pretty much essential kit if you use your PS3 for watching lots of DVD/Blu-Ray discs.
I like the solid, tactile feel to it - matches the PS3's quality nicely.
OK, so it hasn't got a light, and it needs pairing with your PS3 - so what? It's less than 20 quid and does exactly what it's supposed to do!
