5 out of 5 stars Amazing   August 25, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

This game is simply amazing. In my view much better than Guitar Hero. Why?
The amount of content available for download is outstanding, they release at least 3 new songs every week and throw in an album every now and then. Plus the tracks are cheaper than Guitar Hero tracks (and you're getting 4x you're moneys worth due to the amount of instruments).
The gameplay is better, everything you wish Guitar Hero did back in the day Rock Band does and so much more; for instance the goofy circular dome things that represent notes in Guitar Hero are replace with sleaker and more precise bar.
Compatibility. Every guitar for GH will work on Rockband but not vice versa (GH refused to do this so Activision are to blame). Also 90% of the tracks you have for Rock Band 1 you will be able to play on in Rock Band 20.

At the end of the day Guitar Hero really have had their pants pulled down over this one, makes you wonder why didn't they think of this? No need to rant about the pricing of the bundle either, they explained on the official RB website that the difference in price between the US bundle and the UK bundle was due to the fact that everything game-wise (inaccurate explanation i know) costs more to make/ship/sell/whatever over here. So don't boycott this and miss out when you could be rocking out with you're friends.

Would everyone please stop moaning about the price! If you already own Guitar Hero 2 or 3 this is an essential purchase (as you don't have to buy any extra instruments) and totally surpasses its predecessors.

With weekly DLC this is the only rhythm game you need (before the next big thing anyway).

At the moment I have 91 tracks and I'll be getting the new Weezer one's later this week.

I was fortunate enough to play with the full band its the best fun I've had on the Xbox since its release and the best party game ever!

5 out of 5 stars worth the cash   June 30, 2008

first of all i was a bit annoyed at the price, but in the end i managed to get it for 150 including the game, me and my mates couldnt wait any longer.

after playing the game, i can safely say its worth every penny, we've had hours of fun on it, so mch so my m8 is gettin his own so we can battle online.

great thing is, if u get bored playing the drums u cn play guitar...and then mike, and so on, so basically its not jus the same thing over n over like in guitar hero

the song list is pretty damn brilliant, theres a very wide selection of tastes, but not only that, u cn download over 160 songs (at bout 50p - 1.00) each, which wen u tihnk, if u download a song on itunes, it costs that much anyway, so u gettin to play it and listen to it on a game.

believe the hype
its brilliant
highly recommended

oh and guitar hero guitars... work on rock band ;)

5 out of 5 stars FOOLS!   February 14, 2008

All of you who think its not goign to be as good as guitar hero are fools. i was in florida in november. i spent most my holiday playing this game. we broke the drums becasue you realy get into the game. the guitar hero guitar can be used as a base also.

when you have you and your friends rocking out a band that you named and designed the charicters for all rocking out in your living room you get real carryed away! the guitar has an extra set of buttons for when teh solo kicks in.

the songs arnt laim, it all depends on what contry your band flys too. for example. if your in america you will have the likes of metalica and all the american bads. if your in the UK you get David bowie and roling stones. you get to go all over. gain fans, buy tour busses, tour planes. the game put guitar hero to shame and all this is comign from a guitar hero fan!

this games was basicly my holiday in america. we woke, rocked out all day with a case of bud, went to a club in the night, got home, an carryed on rocking on right through the night. this happend every day!

trust me. you may love guitar hero but even my mum likes this one. its well worth the wait :-)

hope you all like the read

5 out of 5 stars Harmonix did it again   May 23, 2008

First off all to people complain about controllers price. Wrong item you giving low score. ;)

Now some important info for smart people. This game works with GH2 and 3 controllers. It works with 360 headsets(on hard or expert it might be to bad quality!) and all usb mics. So only drums would be missing, just wait to it fall in price?

Now to game itself. After being dissappointed with Guitar hero 3(Way to many notes, notes that not even from guitar, to loss timming on strum and to easy HO/PO ), and felt more like a chore then fun. I am happy to see harmonix was the reason older Gh games where good.

For multiplayer this game beats Guitar hero big time. Ofc having mic and drummers added to it, helps with multiplay. But stuff like world tour, create your own character and so on, is what takes it up even more.

Now singleplayer is about same as guitar hero series. But Creating you own character, weekly DLC, drummers and vocals easy makes this game a bette choice in the end.

Is the price high? hell yes. Should price be lowered? would be nice.
But if you compare RB with GH and see what you get. 2 more controllers, World tour, create character and way better DLC. Hmm then you getting more then 2x GH content in long run, so content wise RB price is ok.
