3-Position Switch December 16, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Just got the unit and it looks good. There were no instructions with it and the blue lights didn't appear to work. A quick look at tha other reviews revealed the existence of a switch and issues about not being able to turn the lights off and the need for batteries for the fan. I just want to say that on my unit the switch (at the rear of the unit) is a 3-position switch: 1-everything off, 2-fan on and lights off, 3-fan and lights on. Having only just got the unit and not having lived with it yet I'm not willing to go the whole hog and give it 5 stars but it certainly seems like it will do the job.
Does Its Job September 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
jus got this wii station today and it doesnt seem 2 bad at all. all of your wii things fit in it well especially the console, although u will probably have to take the skins off your wii remotes and the numchucks will fit with the leads in aswell u jus have to sort of coil them up. from reading other reviews before i got it, i was a little in-decisive as of the fan being loud and you cant turn the fan off without turning everything off. but everything off only means the blue lights on the side and the fan. you can still use the wii without the fan and lights being on. charging the controllers can be done without the wii actually being on you jus need to have the power on (e.g the plug socket). also linking back 2 another review the fan in my stand doesnt need any batteries either to work it uses the main supply of power to the stand. So all in all it is a good accessory for the wii and worth the money for what you get.
Almost 5 stars September 15, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had this for a few weeks now so have had chance to use it quite a bit before reviewing. I originally picked this particular one as it did look quite stylish and also had good reviews. Here's how I found it...
The good points are it's look, the fan operates very quietly - if you have the volume at a reasonable level on your game you probably won't even notice it, the switch to turn the fan and smart looking LED lights off is a nice touch, the cables of the nunchucks can be neatly wrapped up and tucked away behind the nunchuck itself instead of hanging out the front of the unit so it always looks tidy.
The only negative points in my opinion are the lack of instructions - I had to read reviews on here before I even realised there was a fan and LED lights that both needed to be activated by a switch on the back of the unit. And the biggest negative point for me is to do with charging the controllers, obviously the main reason for buying the unit. There are 2 green lights on the front of the unit which turn red as you place the controller in to charge. As it's green before you put the controller in, I assumed that it would turn green once it's fully charged, but this does not seem to be the case (this is where some instructions would be nice). The first time I used the unit I left the controllers on charge for 6 hours but the lights stayed red the whole time. Today I put them on charge for just under 10 hours and still the lights remain red. To me this would suggest that they don't turn green once they're fully charged, unless they take longer than this for a full charge which I wouldn't have thought. Bearing this in mind that means I've totally no idea how long they take to charge, as with no instructions there's nothing to tell you. I've searched on the net but can't find anywhere with this information.
If only there were instructions, and the lights changed once the controllers were fully charged (as they do on the X Box controllers, this would easily be a 5 star product. Just a shame they let slip on such an important feature.
If anyone does know how long these do take to charge please could you leave a comment here to let me know and also anyone else interested in buying this item. I'd hate to over charge the controllers and damage the battery units inside.
Not a perfect one. July 26, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
It's not possible to recharge Wii Remotes without removing Skinz. I have found this annoying. Otherwise it keeps everything together and recharges wii remotes quickly
Don't buy this unit September 1, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Just received this unit and have just returned it for a refund. The 3 position selector switch at the back for engaging/disengaging fan etc. doesn't do anything. It is a non functional item. Only one of the charging bays actually works and this only produces a minimal recharge. Supplier helpline number goes directly to a mailbox and so is a complete waste of time.In my opinion, a heap of rubbish!
