mr bacon dosnt know what he is on about...this is a fantastic game made even better by its brilliant expansion and im sure it will be even better now its on ps3...im alittle confused tho does it include the downloadable content

I originally posted a critical review of this game based on problems encountered within minutes of starting gameplay. These took the form of screen freezes and console resets.
Having checked the PS3 display settings, I changed from 1080i which had proved fine for the likes of Assassin's Creed & PES 2008 to the 720p recommended on the game's packaging. Hey presto! Problem solved. If you are experiencing similar problems you could try this adjustment.
Having been able to make a little more progress now, the early indications confirm the majority view.
This gives the impression of being a deep and complex game with the potential for many hours of entertaining exploration.

The first thing you will notice about the game is the amazing graphics. The scenery is breathtaking and all very smooth. One major flaw in the PC version was the amount of raw PC power it needed to even get off the ground, but the PS3 eats this baby up and spits it right out back at the screen, HD and everything.
OK, so if you have played WoW, Guildwars, LOTRO etc or any of the previous incarnation such as Morrowind, then you will know what to expect. Ok, so there is no online content which is a slight disappointment which removes a big part of what a lot of players like and that is being able to face off against another human player, however, the general concept is the same as these games. Accept quests, kill, loot, sell, buy, and egnerally level up to some Uber-baddie or an ultra-cool hero and kick everythings butt.
There are problems with this title in that the expansive world and terrific scenery not to mention free-roaming non-linear game style tend to lead to an awful lot of walking around from one place to another. But, on the other hand the fact that you don't have to follow the same path, can choose different character classes and don't have to rely on having a group of other humans available online to finish certain parts of the game means the playability and re-playability are top draw.
If for no other reason than to show you the wonder that is true-HD game play, I would recommend this game. Not for everyone it has to be said but for those who love the genre then this is a must have for the PS3

The PS3 Oblivion game was always better than the XBOX 360 version as it was visually better and you did not have to play it with a roaring fan in the background drowning out some of the audio. However it was let down by lacking The Shivering Isles expansion and the downloadable content. Whereas now we do have the full Shivering Isles expansion, we are still missing the other downloadable content and can only hope that Bethesda will eventually put it on the Playstation Store as a final act for this excellent game. As far as the game itself others have given it all the praise it so richly deserves far better than I can so all I will say is believe the hype. This IS the greatest game of all time (It doesnt need a debate. Those who have played know.) A game so good for the first few hours you cannot really believe you are actually playing it. If you havent played it, where have you been? Do yourself a favour and get it now. You HAVE no excuses!!!

I have to admit, i have been a card carrying member of the xbox360 fan club for over a year now, and have only recently bought my PS3. In general i'd have to say that so far i have been a little dissapointed by the PS3 compared to the xbox. Before i get lynched, you dont need to tell me that by the time the PS3 is as old as the xbox now is, that it will dominate entirely, but for now, i was feeling a little let down. I had oblivion for the xbox, played it relentlessly for months and months having completed it several times, it is without question, a work of genius. If you had told me it would be better on the PS3 i would have laughed at you - how can you improve upon perfection? I would have been wrong. The PS3 version is far superior, the Graphics are better, the draw distance is far greater, there are (as far as i can figure out) more side quests and a greater variety of things to kill. It also seems a bit more of a challenge aswell, despite the greatness of it, i had always felt the 360 version was a little easy. All in all they have taken brilliant and made it better. Hats of to bethesda, for doing what many companies should have - to use the porting process to acyaully make a game better - rather than doing a half arsed job as most companies seem to.
You simply must own this game, its non negotiable, it will absorb your life, though dont expect to keep your girlfriend, but i must stress, you wont care!
